Other than my 1g, being a garage hobby "mechanic"/DIY guy pretty much is my hobby. If it has a motor, I work and tinker on it. I have a F body Camaro I'm fixing up alongside my 1g, I have a small collection of somewhat vintage Briggs, Clinton, and Tecumseh small motors, I've done a couple mini...
^ good point. Members like me can't complain about forums dying, yet only have a handful of posts to their name. Guess I should try to start a goal of making at least 1 meaningful post a day, and go from there. I'm only ever on 3 websites ever anyways, here, Camaro forums, and ESPN.
Here's the worst spot on the rear quarter panel that I've been working onSomewhat recent pic of where I'm at with it. I need to get my line straightened up more, and smoothed out a bit. I've been moving pretty slow since I've never messed with bodywork before.
This had to be some of the most tedious work I had done in awhile, although, in my opinion, a good way the shed some needless lbs. I dont remember how much it all weighed after I bagged it up, but i want to say it was in the 20 lbs range
Turns out though, my clutch "issues" were due to an improperly welded clutch pedal. Whoever did it, didn't pull the pedal all the way forward before welding it haha. I dont have pictures of that, but I replaced the whole clutch pedal assembly. That fixed my issues, I had hoped to at least know...
Actually, nope. I lied. Looking through pictures from the past year, I got alot more done than I thought. I was having clutch issues, I used that as an excuse to get a new clutch and flywheel, and new shift bushings.
This is pretty much how she sits now, in the garage though. I still have some bondo work on the driver side rear quarter panel to get it all straight and smooth.
Haha, man, it almost sucks looking back at this and seeing how little I've accomplished. My biggest update is I finally finished putting my cylinder head back together. I had torn it to clean it up, replace valve seals, clean up the casting in the combustion chambers, etc.I did make a nice...
Well, I will definitely jump on the bash Facebook train, although, I also need to be alot more active on the forums. I feel like an oddball sometimes. I'm 30, I dont have a Facebook, and I still stubbornly use Craigslist and forums for buying parts and looking up tech info. Unfortunately with...
Now, I want to assemble this motor on my own. After seeing those bearings and with the general consensus being the motor was dirty on assembly, how do I avoid making the same mistake? What are some methods/techniques you guys use to make sure the motor is as clean as possible on assembly?
Ok. I'll bring the crank to a machine shop and see what they say. What's a good recommendation for clearances? Honestly, this build isn't going to be crazy at all. I'll be sticking with the 14b until I have enough for a 16g, that's probably as big as I'll go. I see alot of guys setting clearance...
