    General Speeduino standalone

Thank you that was very helpful. Now I just need to buy a new board as mine was stolen

    General Speeduino standalone

That looks space age, now I'm jealous. Ive heard some good things about tunerstudio particularly in the miata world and I know its decoded for 4g63. Mainly I need tuning software that isnt going to run me the price of the car. Never heard of megasquirt but I'll look into it.Sorry I said tuning...

    General Speeduino standalone

I was wondering if anyone has any info about the speeduino/arduino standalone ECU and tuner studio software. Specifically how user friendly the software is, how hands on the ECU installation is.Does the board require assembly or come with a harness that can be soldered to the factory wiring...

General Slight knock in open loop

So I realized I only get the slight knock if I'm only partially on the throttle, at wot it doesnt knock at all

General Slight knock in open loop

As far as changing what the logger reads, I can make the advance go up but not down. I will try to set it to what the logger reads, as far as the balancer goes it reads as close to 5 degrees advance as my eyeballs can get it. Still not much change, I did realize that I was adjusting the mid...

General Slight knock in open loop

I checked mech timing, is about as perfect as I can get it, I did notice that my belt, which is new, has roughly 3 degrees stretch/slack to it. Not sure if that will affect it overall or if getting the kevlar belt might fix that. I actually reduced CAS timing to 3 degrees instead of 5, figured...

General Slight knock in open loop

Another thing I'm wondering, if I have the base timing set to 5 degrees advance, if I ground out the pin on the firewall, I assumed I would see 5 degrees advance on a datalogger, but I'm actually seeing 8 degrees. Is this normal? Or am I missing something.

General Slight knock in open loop

Hmm if 14 to 16° is your average timing advance I wonder if maybe my car is adding to much timing initially, typically it starts at 22° and drops down to 17°. I could try retarding the cas slightly.

General Slight knock in open loop

Do you happen to know what the average timing advance should be under wot. I may just try to tune it like a 2g.

General Slight knock in open loop

The problem is nothing I do seems to get rid of it. According to my wideband my a/f ratio averages 12.3 at that specific moment so it's not like I'm lean. In fact I think I'm maybe too rich. My mechanical and cas timing are perfect. I'm almost under the impression that its could be due to my...

General Slight knock in open loop

I plan to get ecmlink in the future, for now its what I could afford. I do have the v.2 translator which can do a little better tuning but really i was wondering if 8 points of knock is going to cause problems down the line. Aside from a slight power plateau from the timing being pulled, i dont...

General Slight knock in open loop

Sorry but I haven't got a readout of the datalog yet. When I get one I'll post it.

General Slight knock in open loop

I have a 1g laser turbo, with stock injectors and 14b turbo. I've been using the gm maft combo with a datalogger and when I roll onto the throttle from cruise I get a slight knock ping as high as 8 counts the second the car goes into open loop mode. I've been thinking with the maft settings but...

    2G Cooling system question

Looks like a 16g but a better identifier would be the part number that's usually stamped on the compressor housing. That being said, it could the photo but that impeller looks a little chewed up to me.

    2G Cam recommendation?

If spool up it the issue, cam gears can help a lot as you can change the amount of overlap. Basically, in turbo applications, less overlap will increase top end power but also lag time while decreasing overlap will give better spool up but reduced top end power. Another reason to have cam gears...
