I always recommend the hard break in method. Just preference for me ive had friends do soft break ins with success and I did a hard break in to compare. Both motors are running strong with no issues. Thats my .02 cents
Aftermarket cams are usually stamped on the cam with a brand unless there a regrind. BC cams are stamped were the cam gear is bolts to the cam. I would pull them and inspect them to properly identify them.

If you have access to a lift then I would put it on a lift and inspect the drive shaft and mounts. Its also possible that you need to have the drive shaft balanced. If all the basics are covered I would check the drive shaft and tcase for damage or worn parts.
