Exhaust Cut-out [Merged 8-9] cut out bypass

Electric cutout saved my ass on a number of occasions. I had at least seven or eight run-ins with cops in which I was doing something stupid, doing a pull or flying around a corner and had a cop see me from a distance and come after me to give me an exhaust ticket. They would pull in behind me...

REMOVE your headlights at the track -20*F drop

I always pulled my headlight at the track. I once drove the car around on a 90 degree day and logged intake temps of 120-125 degrees with the headlight in. I then pulled the headlight and logged intake temps of 90-95 degrees depending on how fast I was moving- almost ambient temp. That's a big...

Awesome story- Stolen car taken back from thief by forum members

Here's a link to the thread- It really starts getting good on page 10: http://www.fuelslut.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=55841&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0The background story is that the guy's heavily modded Mustang Bullit is stolen from his garage when his home is broken into. People start...

Has your car ever fixed itself?

My car decided it didn't want to start on the first 30 degree morning of last fall. After I sat in the car fiddling with it for 30 minutes the car warmed up inside and suddenly it started. Next cold morning, same thing. 3rd day the weather swings back to 90 degrees (Florida weather is great like...

    DSM sin

The one downside I can see is the total lack of straight-line oomph. How much fun is it to pass somebody in a series of tight corners only to have them shoot off into the distance ahead of you on the first straight? Maybe a supercharged or turbocharged Miata.

Exhaust Manifold : SBR Vs FP

FP is using some super-duper strong material and an equally super-duper casting process. If you're interested in the technical terms go read the Vendor Announcements thread; fcd400 something or other and investment casting, or somesuch. The point is it really shouldn't crack.

Did Brian Crower 272's cause this carnage? Pics inside

Best way to avoid it- permanently mark the timing plate before you take it off. Etch "this side out" into it with a dremel or something. I remember being freaked out by this very possibility when I was putting my engine together because I hadn't marked it.

    16g power!

Congrats on the time, and on pushing the 16g.

12.0 at 122 14b street car no nitrous

That's a BIG mph for a 14b. I'm amazed it ran that fast compared to 130 mph on the 50 trim. Were you on street tires? I ran a similar ET with 10 mph less trap.

Six puck unsprung- better disengagement, easier on synchros?

I already have the washer under the pivot. I may leave it there with the new pivot; don't want to put the release fork into the pressure plate. If it clears that I can't see the harm in leaving it. I've checked the pedal assembly for play and it's still tight. I also do have a stainless braided...

    Alternator Cooling tube?

The new JayRacing kit looks really nice, and a lot cheaper than the Buschur kit.

    More timing?

Pump gas or race gas? You're probably not "maxxing" it on pump gas. Adding base timing on pump might hurt your performance. On race gas, bumping the base timing up to 8 degrees might help you out. Without fine control of your timing curve, it's hard to derive a real benefit from timing tuning on...

Suggestions on meth injection and race gas

No need for the race gas. One of the great things about meth injection is that you can run a race-gas style tune all the time. Also, that you can tune the car in on the street over time and run it in the same state on the track.

Six puck unsprung- better disengagement, easier on synchros?

A twin disc is definitely out of the question because of budget. I'm never going bigger than this Evo 16g anyway, so the power handling and super-high-rpm shift capability of the twin disc will never be used. The real need here is to increase the torque capacity of the clutch setup while...
