It was the first time doing this test, and yes I did both of those. I plan on doing a leakdown test with a friend of mine in 2-3 weeks so hopefully then I'll be able to narrow down the possible causes easier.
Just did a compression test today on my 1G, engine was at operating temp. Below are my results and pics of them:Cylinder 4: 130 PSI
Cylinder 3: 150 PSI
Cylinder 2: ~133 PSI
Cylinder 1: ~127 PSI (forgot to take pic of result)Any reason why cylinder 3 would be so high while the others are...
Okay so let's say I found a rebuilt engine with ARP hardware and an MLS head gasket, but it's got 2G pistons in it and I'm still on my stock ECU. If I swap it in, would it be drivable if I took it easy on the way home and parked the car until I get ECMlink?
I asked the seller about the piston brand yesterday, and they got back to me saying that they're from Evergreen. Never heard of them before though, maybe you have?
I'm looking to do a rebuild on my engine this summer, seeing as my recent compression test results were pretty crap. I want to replace my pistons with NPR ones, but I can't seem to find them in stock anywhere. Are they discontinued, and if not where can I get them?I'm looking at these ones...
Yeah this one's got the 6 bolt and rear 4-bolt LSD, and the best looking body IMO so it was the best time for the 1G.Oh yeah and I also found out the compression is about ~125 PSI across all the cylinders :banghead:
Took the car out for it's first drive under my ownership today, and the noise is gone now.Although the tradeoff is that the new turbo is puking oil and I think I have a massive boost leak lmao.
It did make this noise before the new turbo, so I’m ruling that out for nowAs for the temperature it was about 5 degrees at the time (Celsius), I also found the fluid was low for the PS so I topped that up. Will start it up again today to see if that fixes it
Just got finished replacing my turbo today, fired up the engine and I noticed this weird whirring noise from the engine. I believe it's coming from somewhere arond the head, but I'm not too sure. Any ideas? Also don't mind the smoke, it's just penetrating oil burning off the exhaust manifold
Finally got the new turbo in, also blasted the upper IC pipe with some paint for fun. Gonna get this registered pretty soon and get it on the road finally :cool:
