Ductility only refers to deforming under tensile conditions and for a material to fatigue, it doesn't have to reach its ultimate tensile strength or even its yield strength. Also I think a harder material would exhibit a stronger resistance to compression as a spring. Real materials tend not to...
Awesome thats all I was wondering. I thought I would have to lap them. I'll look at some of your write ups and see how its done. and got new valve stem seals. The car has about 125K on it so would new springs be necessary? I won't be going past the redline at all
I have the head off my engine so it could be resurfaced (long story) but none of the valves are bent or anything. They all held water too so I know they sealed. Can they just be put back on the head as is or do they have to be reground? I have all the valvetrain components separated as far as...
I've read way too many different opinions on this to be sure. I torqued a new OEM Composite head gasket and its been sitting for a couple months now. It was idled for maybe 20-30 seconds at the most. Can I reuse it? If it matters, I plan to get my head resurfaced and I used copper spray.
The whole issue is that my brakes were off. I've seen his video before and he used the brakes. Also if you read the rest of this page you would see that I already got them off.
Carbon buildup could prevent the valves from fully sealing. Did you ever pour oil in the cylinder like was recommended? That will tell you if your rings are bad
I bought a starter from someone on here and he said it was for a 2g gst 5 speed. Its a little smaller than the one I have but the Bendix gear is the same size. How can I tell if its the exact one I need?
