The way it looks out weighs the time it took to do it. It looks 100000X better and with the battery in the trunk too, I LOVE the way it looks and dont regret spending a crapload of time on it at all.
Dont want to steel your thread but if people are looking for a different way to do this here it is.
80% of the wires fromt he fuse box go under the radiator, along the driver side fender and enter the car on the driver side. long story short I ran the wires inside the car instead of outside...
See that hole on the left, I drilled it to a 1/4"(1/4" is the perfect size to let the socket I had to use for the other bolts in) and dropped the bolt in(took a min ### its off to the side but I didnt add any holes). Then I used a cap from the underbody of the donar car to plug the hole. I also...
Also why make a AWD FWD question. Lets say you buy an AWD car for $1000, convert the spyder to AWD then make the AWD shell FWD and sell it as a running car. You just got and AWD spyder plus $2000 cash from selling a FWD turbo DSM. Good move IMO
The AWD tank has a cutout in the middle for the driveshaft and the FWD one does not. Also you have to cut off the FWD mounts otherwise the AWD tank will not fit.
You should leave the AWD gas tank in the shell. The FWD gas tank has different mounts that you would have to weld up(on the sides and back). And the FWD rear subframe should bolt up with the AWD tank there.
I have heard of a TON of people who want to do this and may have. I want to know who actually has is done. I know just around me here in MN there are 4 for sure including mine. I would like to know who else has an AWD Spyder and where are you from.
Alright, Havent updated in awhile but Im all finished. The car is getting towed tonight to DB performance to get started and tuned. Here are some finished shots...and the car officially out of the garage...And My next project...Clean it up. when you get the car out...
