Off to B&M performance to get fixed up. They will go through the longblock etc. Not sure if I will have them get it 100% installed or just R&R the engine etc and I'll take it from there.TBD, but they will at least get the longblock dialed in 100%.Untitled by bradydings, on Flickr...
Update:Weeks of "I'm sending you an engine."No spec sheet, no build list. Nothing. Have no idea what he is supposedly even giving me.Apparently he is driving a long block from Wyoming to Minneapolis this week since he couldn't figure out how to ship it.
Not sure what the plan is yet.-Need the entire short block disassembled / cleaned and reassembled with all new gaskets / seals etc, new crank, probably a new block.
-Need the head disassembled / cleaned etc.
-Need the turbo rebuilt
-Probably get a new oil pump and gears.Lot of wasted money...
UPDATE:Shop installed the bearings wrong.Untitled by bradydings, on FlickrUntitled by bradydings, on FlickrUntitled by bradydings, on FlickrUntitled by bradydings, on Flickr
We didn't really reach a conclusion. I'm thinking I'm going to take the engine to MAPerformance and just have them go through it. Hopefully they can provide some closure on what actually went wrong.
Pulled the pan, pretty unfortunate. Clearly blew through the thrust surface of the bearing, then continued to absolutely torch the bearing until it spun, then seized the crank.Open to ideas as to what could have caused this in 3 miles of driving, and idle time in the garage with plenty of oil...
Why did you mount the drivers side a few degrees off from the passenger side? Is there a reason you didn't want them mirrored or do you like the crooked one-off look? :sneaky:
Well, pulled the timing belt.Oil pump spins freely, crank will not budge unless I use a breaker bar. Pulled the starter thinking maybe that was the issue, didn't change. I'm really lost. I'm talking with the builder currently. Will keep everyone updated!
Thanks everyone! Just hoping the rest of the block is good. Thing shut down immediately. No metal in the pan or anything. Going to pull a rod cap and check it out for damage. Fingers crossed I can throw a new OEM pump / gears in the thing and call it a day.. But that's if the culprit is the pump!
Yo!So I got this thing all buttoned up and took it out around the neighborhood to break in the brakes and do some engine deceleration to break in the motor.Untitled by bradydings, on FlickrI was constantly checking for leaks, AFR's, oil pressure etc. just making sure nothing was loose or...
