The evo pump is rated at 190lbh, you should definitely re-wire it when installing it. As others have said, the stock injectors are gonna limit you, but after you replace them and get a tuning solution, that pump should handle most of what a small 16g can throw at it.
@motomattx I believe he’s talking about a 420a. In which case, you’d could use a HRC portfueler or a FMU or a mega squirt, or an AEM FIC/EMS. There are other ways I’m sure, but that’s all i can think of now.
^ Ive actually heard they're decent, like %60 of the time, they work all the time, lol. But yeah, I've heard few complaints. Id be more worried about chipped wheels or a bent shaft, ie a full new cartridge when buying a turbo. Regardless, it could cost more than $200 for a non rebuilt, 20 year...
@Vegas smith, and the hot side will be cracked to hell. All joking aside, you should definitely be careful of these 20 year old hotsides. A bet @JusMX141 might just have one, or ten, on hand.
I ran a "big" t28 for over 60k miles before I sold it to a local, who I think is still running it. I think your reliability idea is based on the fact that people overrun small turbos, it's pretty much fact, thus they die. As far as cost you can find them still for less than "4 times" the amount...
Another fun one for a mild build would be a t28, I don't see them as often but they do a good job for what they are. Though if you already have the install kit for 14b/16g/20g, you'd have to source an install kit. Which isn't hard, it's just another inconvience.
@keltalon, there is a definition to "beast mode", and it's your car, haha! I hope this trans lasts a good bit of time with all the detail you've put into it.
Not to derail the conversation, but @twicks69 how did the Adelia(spell check) Magic coupling work for you?
Not to sidetrack your thread OP but I've always been interested in a nitrous style rpm window and or full throttle actuated cutout. I'm just not smart enough in electronics, haha! Good luck though.
Hey Rafe, I actually used to live out that way(before rent hikes, ugh). I'm glad you're getting it back up and running. I work from home, and mostly make my own hours, so usually have A LOT of random free time. I'll definitely hit you up to check it out sometime. Any events you're looking to...
Hey @rvaughn, I see you're also from the 50tree(haha). I've followed this build for years - with great enthusiasm, you have built a monster!
If there is ever a time you need help wrenching, I'm down! I'm currently looking for a shell to build, but it's tough because I live in the "numbers"(se...
The stock 6 bolt head studs are way better than the 7 bolts. I think they're around 2m(?) larger and should have no problems at 20 psi, heck I read somewhere on here of people going close to 30psi on them. Let me see if I can find the post.Edit: here it is...
Another option regarding intercoolers is to look at used OEM IC's like one from an Evo. They are abundant, cheap(saw a local CL ad with piping and the good Metal BOV for $120)
should easily support 250-300chp and shouldn't block airflow to the radiator as bad as a giant aftermarket unit. Just a...
