  1. Resolved Were there different Cargo Covers for 2GA and 2GB cars?

2Ga vented rear rotor cars have 3 bumpers and a finished underside, 2Ga solid rotors have 2 bumpers and a finished underside, and 2Gbs have 2 bumpers and unfinished underside. This is true for the AWD Talons we've had, but I don't know how this played out for Eclipses or FWD Talons.There...
  2. Lets talk Difs.

I might be retired but I still have (a piece of) my mind :)
  3. Lets talk Difs.

The axle assemblies are from an OEM VC rear diff - the 'short' stub is the one catching people out, it will slot into a mechanical LSD, but it won't click into place.
  4. Lets talk Difs.

Yes I did read that. The non-LSD cups in my diff snap in just as they did in the original non-LSD - the only way to remove them is with a pry bar. It is quite difficult to tell the difference between a non-LSD cup and an LSD short cup, until you have them sitting next to each other, there's...
  5. Lets talk Difs.

Non-LSD cups do lock into place when used with an Evo 8 LSD in a 2g housing - the short LSD cup does not lock into place. I do not make much torque, but I have enough grip to have broken several axle shafts over the years running ProSolo events (usually at the inboard spline root), but the only...
  6. 2G front subframe diferences

Early and late AWD subframes are different, the later one has one more bolt each for the triangular stiffening plates, and there's a couple of other subtle changes as well. IIRC the longitudinal member that carries the front engine mount is slightly different as well. I have never looked at...
  7. Lets talk Difs.

No ABS 'tone ring' - can I press my own tone ring on, or is it simply abs-incompatible > Better than DSS at least :)You turn corners, you need quality ABS...
  8. Lets talk Difs.

Very good point - my apologies.I have only tested Evo 8/9 front axles & hubs, since those are the only ones commonly available in the USA.I forget that you have all the other Evos available to you. Very jealous :)
  9. Lets talk Difs.

I don't know whether the inboard joints from an Evo will fit a DSM trans, but the outboard joint will definitely not fit the 2G outboard hub bearing - the Evo splines are noticeably larger in diameter. The Evo hub assembly will not fit a 2G upright - the bolt holes are laid out in a seemingly...
  10. Lets talk Difs.

There are aftermarket axles, but I believe only for OEM LSD and non-ABS last time I checked. Wouldn't be a bad upgrade for the axle shaft though, considering I've broken several with just T25 power.
  11. Lets talk Difs.

I did post this data to this thread, but doesn't harm to post it again.Evo diffs up to 8/9 will fit into any 2G diff housing - possibly 1G as well, but I've only worked with 2Gs. 2G non-LSD axles fit Evo diffs perfectly. Neither side 2G LSD axle fits - one side appears to, but the splines are...
  12. Evo 8-10 Brembo Calipers DSM Conversion (for 1g too)

    JNZ Tuning most likely ?
  13. 2G How to improve handling characteristics of my AWD 2g?

2Gs with sunroofs have the stiffness of overcooked linguini - sans sunroof they are very stiff indeed. Put a 2G up on axle stands, have one rear stand one notch lower than the other, now lower the car onto the stands. If the car has a sunroof it will settle onto the different height stand with...
  14. Evo 8-10 Brembo Calipers DSM Conversion (for 1g too)

I also went from the discontinued AEM big rotor kits to the Evo 8/9 setup. I used Eradispeed 2-pce rotors on the street car to mitigate the rotational mass issue. The results obviously depend on your pad choice, but it is pretty hard to find a pad that will give you no better brakes than OEM...
  15. 2G Brembo brake upgrade...what prop valve?

Actually I would sort the problem the same way. Porterfield R4S on the end that needs grip, and try HPS and HP+ on the end that needs to lose grip. The HP* pads have a uniform lack of grip at any temperature, and their cf/temp curve is quite similar to R4S, so that would be my suggestion...
