I'm not 100% sure but if I remember right the flexplate on awds have 4 bolts to the converter and the Non turbos have 3 bolts to the torque converter. On a side note I have a freshly rebuilt f4a22 trans with about 200 miles on it, and also a reman torque converter and a used flexplate and spacer...

As far as assembling the engine the only thing you will probably have to do after machine work is file the piston rings to your spec (This is if you get aftermarket rings, the machine shop will probably do this for a little extra). About your budget $1500 is not really enough to do a thorough...
No Problem 19eclipse90, reason I asked is bc you had me thinking maybe I had the wrong motor mount arrangement or something( I jus recently bought the car with the swap so I'm not real familar with what parts were used yet).
My guess is It's just a coincidence. I can't think of anything you could have bumped while installing a mbc that would cause your car to not start. A couple things to check would be the starter relay or your clutch switch. Good luck
