^^I've had the exact opposite experience. I built my 6-bolt 11 years ago with a Topline front case and oil pump gears and it's still going today. Balance shafts were eliminated with the correct OEM stub shaft and the car was never stock. It currently has a GT3076R on it with E85 at 28PSI. I...
Funny this came up. I have some questions regarding using the Evo pistons also. I am thinking of building an Evo 4G64 block for my VIII.An Evo IX piston .060" will be the same diameter as a 4G64 piston, so can a OEM piston be ordered in that size, and will it work? I'm not sure how the height...
Do you mind making a write-up on it so it may be duplicated? I'll be making my own when I get back from AFGH, as I am not happy with the current setup. Anyways, good work and GL with your tuck. I'll be doing the same when I install my 6266 and new manifold setup.
I read your other thread. Looks great! I had a hard time adapting the stock alt tensioner arm to the GM unit and it never was 100%... had to use a ridiculously long bolt also. Are you going to be selling these brackets?
This is the absolute best idea besides having your stock balance shaft machined down (just machining the counterweight off it). All those BSE kits sold by the vendors are just using an OEM 4G61 stubby shaft. Any 4G61 motor had it, but you can order it for a 1989 Mirage turbo.
6&7-Bolt 4g63 Front Case & Oil Pump Rebuild - YouTubeAround 16:00 he starts talking about the balance shaft elimination stubby and how an Ebay one grenaded his motor due to lack of an oil groove in it.
I'm sure it can be done. You'll have to make some custom motor mount adapters...but 6-bolt blocks are cheap as dirt, stronger and bolt-in. You can snatch a NT block up and build that if you can't find a turbo motor.
You MUST tune for E85 mix. If you were to run E85 alone, you would have to increase fuel by almost 50%! Mixing in E85 with gas is dangerous if you do not tune for it because you will actually be leaning out your fuel mix. The more E85 you mix in your gas, the more you actually need to "richen"...
Oh! Well we both said FP30 it looks like ROFLThere's a guy in the FP Turbine for Holsets thread who says he's using the FP30 housing. I'd like to see it and find out whether or not it's worth using on the HX-40...
