Any true DSM'ers still out there?

Not to sound so offensive, but, things just don't seem the same anymore.I swear I remember a time when DSM'ers could go out of their way for one another and not get screwed over -- lend out tools; lend out extra parts. Members who were egger to offer their hard earned knowledge, egger to...

Do you like your manual Steering rack & pinion conversion?

Remove the drive belt from your power steering pump and drive the car around for a day or two. Keep the fluid in. Just remove the belt. This way you'll see how the car drives if you do decide to 'pull the lines', as you say.Regarding your second question: I don't believe the 1g manual...

    build

I'd wait on the cam's, there will be plenty of other, more necessary, things for you to spend you money on at this moment.I'd definitely suggest you purchase ECMLink asap.IMO the best part about owning DSMLink is how it encourages the user to struggle through learn every inch of their...

    lower ic pipe leaking

There's a good chance your turbo is leaking coolant into your intake system (lower IC pipe). As long as you stop driving the car ASAP, you may be lucky enough to simply swap in a good turbo or get your broken turbo rebuilt; this is assuming there isn't any engine damage due to the coolant...

    Best head bolts to buy?

Personally, in my early dsm day's, I had a hell of a time with blown headgaskets, I trashed two graphite gaskets before I switched to ARP's and a Mitsu MLS headgasket.I was trying to remember if I did the studs and MLS at the same time or if I did the ARP's - blown - and then installed the...

How should i prep my block

FYI, clean that block when you get it back... and then clean it again! You have to clean it really really good! Any metal shavings can work their way into the main/rod bearings and cause issues or wreck and new rebuild. You can't trust that the machine shop will clean it well enough if even at...

No spark, replaced everything! PLS HELP

Make sure you don't have the wires wrong over by the coil pack, I've heard of people plugging wire from the ignition system into the AC somehow. If you haven't already, check for spark at all four spark plugs. i.e. pull the plug wires, one by one inserting a fresh spark plug into the wire...

No spark, replaced everything! PLS HELP

Throwing parts at a car when it breaks is natural, and in an old car, not such a horrible idea; however, at this point Slow2gen is right, you need to test some stuff. As I read you post I was waiting for someone to say that the battery was good. You do have good voltage from the battery right...

    how much boost on 16g

There's a reason why the dsm community is so knowledgeable and willing to help each other... we have to be because our cars are as ways broken and we need the help from our fellow dsm'ers!!! It's no joke when you ask a fellow member here about their car and they tell you that it is broken more...

    how much boost on 16g

P.S. Your going to break things, I hope you know that. As soon as you start turning up the boost, you will break your car. The good news is that, your DSM is already old and it's likely to break itself no matter what you do, so.... have fun with it.However, if you purchased this car as your...

    how much boost on 16g

If you don't take the car to 7k very often, or dont feel conferrable with that (like me) take it up to 6k or 6.5k, but make sure you run it to what ever rpm you'll likely take it to when that neighborhood civic trys to cut you off pulling onto the freeway... if your likely to run it to red line...

    how much boost on 16g

a/f reading from a logger, I take it..? Pay close attention to your knock count/sum. That will tell you a lot about the condition of your tune. If you can do a 3rd gear pull from 2.5k to 7k with out any knock (or less then 10 counts***). Turn up the boost, and try it again.*** someone...

    how much boost on 16g

You'll likely be limited by your fuel system; your 550's will top out before your 16G, assuming its big 16g or better. You should be able to run 20 psi, give or take a few psi. It's less about your internals and more about your ability to tune the engine properly (with a 16g)... meaning...
