Yea I'm running 93 in it with e3 plugs, it rly sounds like a rod bearing but the sound is right under the valve cover. I'm gonna try take it off today if I get time and atleast look at the valve train.

Ok,so I have a 95 tsi with a 7 bolt. Last week I replaced the valve stem seals and had the valves reseated. Over all the cylinder walls look in great shape all rockets and liters looked to have minimal wear to them. Everything looked great, I've drove the car bout 400 miles running a 14b on 8psi...

That pully is adjustable..losen the bolt in the middle of the pully. Use a pry bar and rotate the pully towards the timing belt this will take up slack that the auto tensioner cant take out.
