Hello all. I put a 3" exhaust which eliminated my catalytic converter on my '97 GST and I think it may have fouled the rear O2 sensor. I don't know for sure if it's just the miles or the exhaust that caused it, but do you recommend putting a new O2 sensor in or just using the O2 bypass method...
I don't think you'll have to worry much about your 6 bolt 'walking' on you. Yes, I suppose it's possible but not probable. And I highly recommend you look up IPT for your auto tranny needs.
First of all I want to say thanks in advance for your help. Here's what I've got. I took my '97 GST A/T in for a timing belt change and had the balance shafts removed as well. Well, when I got it back, none of the dash gauges worked and the windows won't roll up. Not to mention injector #4...
Hey guys. I was considering getting a forward facing oil filter housing for my new 6 bolt swap. I'll be using a sandwich adapter in between the housing and oil filter and I don't want to worry about downpipe clearance. Only thing is I hear how you can't do external cooling with them?! Is...
Hello all. I'm looking for a shop who know their DSMs in the east Tennessee area. Right now my 2G GST is in a shop and has been sitting for months awaiting a 6 bolt swap and the owner of the shop has basically been stringing me along not really working on it. The old engine is already out and...
While I can't really comment on a lot of the other info posted here even though I have a stock 2G head on my 6 bolt block, you may want to consider upgrading the valves. The stocks may become vulnerable in that 500+hp power range and possibly separate since they are a two-piece design. You can...
I've just purchased the Greddy belt as well and was wondering if you replaced yours every 60K miles like an OEM belt or, since it's stronger, leave it on longer.
Yeah, always go OEM with your timing components, water pump AND crank pulley. The OEM crank pulley has the harmonic balancer which is one of the more critical parts of the crank pulley. But the OEM pulley won't break apart like most aftermarket pieces. On that note, mitsubishiparts.com has...
This is a 'little' biased, but I'd go with the 2G. Again, I say biased because I have one and love it. But the 2G's are not hard to come by. As far as looks go, it's up to you and what pleases your eye. My wife likes the 2G's much more. As far as the technical aspects, there's pros and cons...
Unfortunately, I won't even see the oil pump until the short block is built and sent to the shop installing the engine. But since JNZ is supposed to be all OEM, I'm assuming the oil pump will be OEM. Thanks.
OK, thanks I was just confused. I have seen the Topline vs OEM post and I remember seeing AISIN in there and I guess I just got confused. I appreciate it.
Hey all, I tried searching for AISIN and got nothing but here it goes. I order some parts from JNZ tuning including water pump, oil pump/front case, etc. Well, I received some parts separately in my order and when I got my water pump, it showed 'AISIN' on the side. That isn't OEM is it...
The injectors won't support 400-500 hp, you'll need bigger ones. And without doing some major fabrication, the brakes won't work either. They'll work on the 2G's, but even then you have to buy jdm knuckles. Good luck.
