Up for sale is a freshly-rebuilt MHI Small 16G TD05H Turbocharger. This unit is a direct bolt-on replacement on all 1G (1990-1994) Eagle Talon, Mitsubishi Eclipse and Plymouth Laser models, and will fit 2G (1995-1999) Talons and Eclipses with the purchase of an installation kit.
The turbo core was donated at no charge by a long-time customer...it came to me with no wastegate actuator, turbine shaft damage/grooves from oil contamination, and some typical spiderweb cracks in the surface of the ported D2 7cm2 turbine housing around the wastegate hole at the turbine inlet. I replaced the turbine, supplied a good used (tested/reconditioned) wastegate actuator, and gave it the same quality R&R (rebuild and rebalance) as any other MHI unit would receive. No broken bolts or stripped holes anywhere on the turbo, it's ready to bolt on and boost. The posted price covers the cost of the rebuild service and additional parts required along with shipping and is not-negotiable.
Proper oil supply and drainage is crucial. This turbo must be supplied with no more than 50psi of oil pressure under load or you risk causing oil-related damage to the turbo. Use of a filter housing feed line with .075" restrictor is highly recommended. The oil drain must be as straight as possible, have no kinks, and must not dip below the fitting on the oil pan at any point (use an OEM drain tube where applicable). The use of a high-ZDDP racing oil is also highly recommended to protect the turbo against premature thrust wear. Any damage or failure resulting from insufficient oil flow or contamination will not be repaired on my dime.
