If you're currently nursing a blown or leaky eBay Chinese 20G along hoping to make it to the end of the week/month, this may be the solution to your problems. These turbos do not accept MHI parts, so I've taken a new knockoff CHRA and addressed all of the typical problem areas. This includes:
- punching the oiling hole on the thrust plate from 1.0mm to 1.5mm.
- rebalancing the torqued/assembled rotor group on my TC3.
I'm not saying this will be anywhere near as durable or effective as a MHI unit, but it's the best that I can do with the platform I'm working with. Given the country of origin, there is no warranty apart from the guarantee that it won't be DOA.
CHRA was previously-installed on a turbo that I purchased for the outer housings but never run. Installs quickly and easily with just one v-band clamp and a large snap ring that secures the compressor housing. Hook a feed line to the filter housing with a .075" restrictor somewhere in there and drive on. If you feel this is beyond your mechanical capability for any reason, send me your entire turbo and I'll install the CHRA free of charge aside from whatever additional shipping may be needed.
