I am hitting up my muffler shop today, because I got my 2.5 DP on, and I am wanting to get rid of my cat.

So, can we put test pipes in our 2g without tripping off a CEL? Or should I get a high flow-3" cat instead.

I would prefer a test pipe, as it would save me $100. But, that is why I am asking.

Opinons? Thoughts? Pros? Cons?

Thanks,
Nathan

Just make sure that you reattach the O2 ground strap to a proper ground point. Your CEL will come on quite often if you didn't find a good grounding point for your O2 strap...

what are the pros and cons to removing your 2nd o2 sensor? is there any bad effects?

all its for is to let your computer know if you are filtering your exhaust or not - there is a sensor before the cat and one just after - the computer compares the results from both sensors and they aren't a certain amount different then it sets off an alarm and your cel light goes on

the bad effects of not using a cat are what you should be more worried about - it really is not a very good thing to go without a cat but i don't have one its bad i know blah blah blah.......

and the link should be good for a while i just got two new servers and as soon as they are done being setup they will all be mirroring each other

Ok! i took off my cat yesterday and put a replacement pipe on. This pipe was not a straight pipe..it has some resonator material around the outside...my car is not any louder...and the turbo spoons up a heck of a lot quicker! i have a boost gauge so i do have an accurate reading.

i just put a test pipe on and it made my car a HELLUVA lot louder......it sounds too mean!

i do believe you said it's not a straight pipe...but instead has some resonator material inside....prolly that combined with the fact you still have your stock muffler makes it not much louder. all i know is that mine ROARS.
