Alright. Got the trans out over the weekend in preparation for the diff and bearing plate. Found a chunk of a tooth missing on the front Diff output shaft. So I have to find one of those now. Not great, but better to do it now that we still have over a month before the event at the glen. Better now than later.

Electrical is done for the most part. Got a cool little belt hold down/reel thingie that wraps up the belt tails really nice. All that’s left is wiring the brake lights and cool down light. Next up is getting the suspension baselined in the rear, pressing some bearings onto the output shaft, doing a new 4th gear blocker ring in the syncro, measuring preloads and getting the trans back in the car.

Ordered new bearing plate side bearings for the input, intermediate and center diff to make sure I get the preloads correct. So while that ships, I started putting the rear suspension together last night. Added the Volk Metalcraft lower control arm with the nice sway bar mount. And temporarily installed the fortune 510’s just to test fit before I set the travels and everything. Looks killer I think. I now officially have all spherical bushings throughout except for the rear uprights and front compression arms. Should tighten things up nicely.

Looks great. I did see someone convert their rear knuckles to spherical. I think it was B. Vamos.
If you do run sphericals on the knuckles you cannot run rodends as the arm twists and this can cause the mounting plate to bend when the whole arm twists. John had this happen to him. To run sphericals in the knuckle you need polys on the inner mount to be safe.

Trans is shimmed. Just has to get assembled and back in the car. Glad I took the time to do the shimming cause the boostin bearing plate has deeper bearing pockets than the factory unit. So I had to shim a little bit more on the larger side. But, after talking with Jason via IG video call, we discovered the pocket deal and felt the shim size I was coming up with made more sense. Time to get the trans in the car tomorrow and then on the ground for the corner balance and alignment on Sunday.

Trans is in! Did a new clutch disc cause I figured it was time (it’s been in the car since ‘18.) and boy was I right. Missing and broken pucks even though it drove fine on track. Flywheel and pressure plate look ok, so just put it back together with the new disc and it should be just fine. Got the passenger side corner together with the new fortune coilovers and just copied the measurements for the other side. Working on the rear, I came across a binding in the suspension severely limiting travel. I had installed Paul’s lower rear arms, and must’ve over tightened the outboard mount at the bushing. But I think I figured it out. More work done. Cars just about ready I think. Going to fire it up tomorrow.

Looking good! I'd shape the leading edge of that lip though, think upside down airplane wing. Are you also going to add some side spats for those massive front meats?

Thanks! Yes the leading edge is rounded. And yes, spats are inbound as well as a gurney on either side. Just don’t have time before the Glen this weekend.
