Hey guys what's up? I tried looking but couldn't find anyone that STILL offers this service.
I'm interested in having a chip burned for my 1g. Does anyone still burns chips and is willing to provide this service?

Thanks guys.

Umm ya we had a member her back in the day where I got my tunes chipped n sent to me.

Honestly tho ur best best going forward is to send ur ecu to ecmtuning.com and get it socketed and run dsmlink

Bummer. Well thank you very much for the response man!

I used to burn them and I still do have the equipment to do it, but the files are somewhere and it would be super hard to have to retrieve them.

That would have been nice. It seem like everyone that used to burn chips back in the day, aren't doing it any more. I think it's a pretty cool concept. Just get a chip burned to your particular setup and done. Yes there is ECM link and many other options. As a matter of fact, I do have ECM link, but I just want to go with a chip. Why? Just for the hell of it. I like having odd and unique things in my car. There is another very knowledgeable member here that burns or used to burn chips. Bastarddsm. I have sent him a couple of PMs but haven't heard back from him.
I'll continue my search. There's gotta be someone out there that would like to do it..

I was playing around a few months ago with the idea of toying with it for something to do but I wouldn’t be offering that service to anyone in todays age, it was more out of my own interest in the technology. I lost momentum on it as even the resources and files that were once everywhere have dried up vastly and are hard to come by. Bastarddsm said he stopped offering the service as customers were becoming hard to deal with and constantly giving him inaccurate information then complaining to him when their false information resulted in his work not working for them, so can’t blame him there.

The thing to remember with burning a “custom” chip, while it’s easy to get a car pretty close with run of the mill values on a basic set up, every car is still different and getting it spot on usually takes logging then making corrections. This is why back in the day when this was a common practice many just had a chip burnt with generic values for whatever injectors and maf they had along with whatever features they wanted added then backed it up with a piggyback solution like the SAFC or maf translator to get it dead on where they wanted it, or would work directly with these guys sending datalogs so the guy burning the chip could make corrections and burn them another chip and mail it to them, much like how e tuning with Ecmlink or ECUflash works today but a much slower and time consuming process waiting for chips in the mail and then pulling the ecu to change the chip every attempt.

Yes, if you or the guy burning the chips knew what they were doing you could make a car run extremely well this way, keep in mind ecmlink is still technically old school rom editing just like burning that information on to a chip, the software is just much easier for many to understand and the hardware makes making changes much simpler and faster doing it on the fly. Someone fluent in this can make the car run just as well as if it had ecmlink, but being the technology is so obsolete no one is bothering with ecmlink on the market and easily available along with a whole line up of standalone ECU’s that are plug and play and user friendly. Don’t get me wrong, it’s neat technology and it still works well, but unless you plan to learn for yourself it’s not worth pursuing.

That makes complete sense.
It's unfortunate that these ways of doing things are no longer being offered. I'm trying to make my car a bit more unique and old school type of deal.
I'm playing with an Evo MAF and different injector sizes and see what combines better.
Once I get that going and have experimented enough, I might go with a MAF translator 2. Or even back to an SAFC. Naturally, a custom burned chip is also on my list but that will be harder to find.

The average DSMr is not a normal person. We are some of the best scroungers on the planet, and we have a warped drive to do it ourselves, and do it unique.

I'm a ECMLink fan. I find that having a static tune/setup burned in to a chip to be contrary to the reality of the DSMr ethos. We are constantly changing our cars, and nothing is ever done. I like that ECM Link can accommodate 99% of the setups to drive the 4G6x engines. ECM link is just as mature as the DSM platforms, so really - get it while you can - and get it while it is still working on Mac, Windows, and Linux.

Might I ask why not a 2g maf and 560s? While it’s not perfect in most cases I’ve seen this combo idle and cruise well with no other back up, I know many have used this combo alone but I wouldn’t myself, however backed up with an safc minimal corrections would be needed to get it pretty good, shoot last person I knew to do this didn’t have to make any correction at several throttle points. That would be a good way to go if it’s sufficient for your needs and you like the older stuff. I always liked the safc, but unless it’s being used to run a gm maf with ecmlink when their gm maf cable isn’t around the maf translator belongs in a trash can. Had one and could get the car to run real well, but then a storm would roll through and I’d have to change the settings all around for wot as it would be completely off when the weather changed. I don’t know how a maf translator 2 does as I’ve never played with one.

This is why I would like to try out the maf 2 and see how it is. It's supposed to be night and day difference when compared to the MAF translator 1. Many years ago I did run a 2g with the 560 injectors. It did run a bit lean but it was ok.
I'm now experimenting with the Evo MAF and the supposed 650 injectors. In my case, they run extremely lean. The 950s are s bit lean with a very poor throttle response. So I'm about to test 850cc injectors and see how they run. Of they run decent, then I'll look into a SAFC and try to make the setup cleaner.

This is why pretty much all of us stopped making custom chips for others plus Time vs. Return.

True. But there could be exceptions. Not all the apples are rotten I'm the basket. Maybe when someone asks for a custom chip, they can fill out an agreement from of sorts and also charge a bit more. This could weed out all those weird people. I for one, am interested in a custom burnt chip for my custom set up. To me, price is not an issue so to speak.

Also you still need a way to fine tune the car, a maf translator, a maft pro or a generic afc.
Naturally. This can easily be taken care of with any of these options that you just posted.
It's just like expecting your car to be running extremely well after installing all sorts of upgrades including cams and not tuning. Will it run? Absolutely! No question about it. It will be faster. That's true. However, it will not be running at it's finest and power will not be as expected. There will be some hiccups and such. So naturally, an AFC of sorts will be needed to clean things up and extract what's needed from it.
