By some freak miracle, we not only received another order of Yokes from Mitsu, but actually in amount more than 2-3.

8 just came in today, making it the most we've had on hand at one time in the last 5 years.

We also received 7 U-joint kits, which is about par for us every 2-3 months.

Of course, there's always some bad news.

We just grabbed the last 3 2G Carrier Bearings Mitsubishi had in stock. They're not disco'd but they're saying that it may be a wait until more hit the U.S. .

1G Carrier bearings are once again in decent supply.

Yolks, you mean yolks. Don't forget to check on yer yolks folks. Also for the people that don't manage to get a new one, there are good results by applying RTV to the end cap to prevent further leakage.

No, in the U.S., we mean "YOKES"...

That said, the RTV trick was done in the 90's with limited success before Mitsubishi realized the issue and offered an actual fix.

May I ask why you're posting the above here as opposed to in the tech area?

They did...for as long as they could.

On the flip side, I remember Chrysler and Plymouth dealers fighting as hard as they could to NOT deal with it.

I'm still upset nhtsa didn't make them replace all of them.
When I took my Talon in for the recall in '98, they said they took a look and mine was fine, so they didn't replace it. And, AFAICT, it's never leaked, so I'm good, and lucky.

It seems like I really hit the sweet spot when I bought my Talon, good yoke, 6/4, rear LSD still good, no structural rust (yet), etc. If only I'd known about that 1G clutch pedal slippage issue in time, I might have been able to avoid major trans repairs.

Is that when the clutch pedal needs welding? I was curious about that. Never owned a manual 1G. Seems like a huge PITA having to almost pull the dash just to get the pedal welded.

The clutch pedal shaft, technically, but part of the whole assembly. The slippage likely caused the clutch on my car to not fully disengage, leading to not only premature clutch wear but far worse to grinding gears in the trans and the wearing down of the 1st-2nd hub, sleeve & synchros, which ultimately caused 1st to pop out and require a complete trans rebuild, which I did but was a massive job, for me at least. I was able to "fix" this by tightening the nut that locks things down, but eventually I'm going to have to yank the whole thing out and get it welded with a new brass bushing. I have all the parts, just haven't had the time to do it.

And speaking of recalls, this should have been one.
