Back again to spread some doom and gloom cupcakes with some good-news sprinkles on top (as usual).

Like everything else right now--prices keep going up. Mitsubishi has had a hay day over the last two months with raising prices to meet up with cost inflation. We're working on updating everything on the website (each one has to be done individually, as Mitsu doesn't output a pricing file--or at least an unencrypted one), but it takes some time. We will notify anyone who places an order that has old pricing before processing it, and beg for forgiveness.

Aftermarket companies have been off of the hook with updating prices as well.

Some notable mentions that have DRASTICALLY gone up (and I'm sure there are more out there...):

MD129355 Tensioner Pulleys: Almost doubled in price. We used to sell them for about $44, now they're almost $90. Additionally, they're basically on back order status in the U.S. right now. Some good news on this one--we just stocked up again on our White Box version of these which are the same *exact* pulley in the same wrapping, just not in a Mitsu box, and they've only gone up a few dollars.

Gates Timing Kits: Again--they've (Gates) almost doubled the pricing on these. By far, these kits aren't something we recommend, but people seem to want them anyway if they're on a budget. That "budget" just increased quite a bit.

Fidanza Flywheels: Another HUGE increase. Most likely from the price of aluminum, but still it's extreme. Another part we don't really reccomend. The good news on this is that ACT has yet to do an big increase on their chromoly units---yet.

Now for the sprinkles:

We've finally gotten in/and are shortly receiving more of the 6-bolt timing tensioners: https://jnztuning.com/product/oem-6-bolt-tensioner/ or https://jnztuning.com/product/timing-belt-kit-dsm-gvr4-6-bolt-build-your-own/ (this link allows you to pick all of your timing belt kit parts individually) A few months ago, when we posted about these going on back order status, Mitsubishi was saying that they were going to come off of back order status by now. Unfortunately, this seemed to mean that they were going to fill existing orders, not stock them highly like we're used to seeing them do. We have a total of 10 available/coming in shortly (combined), so we've re-enabled them on the site like we did last time when they sold out in short order (1-2 days). We've also (temporarily) bumped the pricing on these down a bit.

We've got a decent amount of our money-saving, value retaining, "White Box" tensioner pulleys and idler pulleys on the shelf, with more coming in. We've been really happy with being able to obtain these, and even though we buy them in bulk we sometimes run low. With the recent increase in pricing from Mitsubishi on these pulleys (especially the tensioner units), we're even happier that we've been buying them this way. There's a reason why we now sell these almost 20 to 1 vs. the Mitsu boxed units. Those "1" are simply the people who don't quite fully believe that they're the same exact part, just not in a Mitsu box, with the huge upcharge. We've now sold over 100 of both of these pulleys with no surprises (other than the money they've saved and gotten the same exact part!) in the last year.

Tensioner: https://jnztuning.com/product/white...ng-belt-tensioner-pulley-md129355-90-94-4g63/

Idler: https://jnztuning.com/product/white-box-timing-belt-idler-pulley-1989-2005-4g63/

They're also available in our "Build your own" kit linked above.

The last sprinkle:

We've finally received a few more of the u-joints and yokes for the GVR4/1G/2G AWD cars which we've had on constant back orders for the past year and a half.

U-Joints (5 total in stock---this took about 3 months): https://jnztuning.com/product/oem-u-joint-spider-kit-dsm/

Yokes (2 total in stock---same time-period as above): https://jnztuning.com/product/updated-yoke-for-90-99-gsx-tsi-and-91-92-galant-vr4-mr111611/

Thanks!

Josh

Josh, you are just an absolute joy to have on here.
You at least let us all know the good, the bad and the ugly (along with some sprinkles... LOL ) so thank you so much for the updates! :thumb:

Update on yokes and u-joints: Yokes are all gone (again). I *JUST* received 3 more Yokes in today's order. So at 1PM EST, we have 3 2 up for grabs again. U-joints are now down to 4 available.

Those that emailed us about the yokes and I responded that they were sold out, have been sent emails with this information of them being available again.

6-Bolt timing tensioners are dwindling, but there are still enough left that I wouldn't consider it an "emergency".

Thanks, A.B.!

The real bad news is that with every new report of parts scarcity, I get more of this hoarding mentality. Spending money on parts I might not need now, but don't want to find out later that they are 13 months out when I need one. U-joints are a great example. How many folks snapped up one or three before the kits all dried up, even if the ones in the car were doing fine.
I do appreciate getting the heads up via JNZ: not killing the messenger here. Just lamenting on the situation and imagining how I will explain the next box of parts stored in my (...our) garage.:shhh:

Heh. Imaging being the guy who has to tell of the bad news, and how much hoarding he does for his various cars. :-/

The worst part is I'll sit on parts for my cars, not use them for a while, and then I get a convincing sob story from a good customer and end up selling them anyway--leaving me holding the bag when I actually need something.

That's another reason why I constantly try to contact manufacturers who produce the OEM parts and buy them in bulk so that they're around after Mitsu decides not to order any more. It doesn't always work out, but I keep trying to obtain more through this process.

You can always ask me if I happen to have a part if you sob to me enough.....ROFL
Stranger things have happened.

Link for timing belt kit including water pump for 99GS?
Sorry, not available through Mitsu and we don't plan on creating a kit for those.

You may want to try a Mopar dealer for those. These would be the part numbers you'd be looking for if going OEM:
