Maybe someone posted this in another thread but figured I shouldn't revive old threads. Ceddy.us apparently had a server crash over a year ago so all the gold mine of blackbox tuning that was on the site is gone. Does anyone have the mods downloaded at least? Maybe even lucky enough to have saved webpages or something for the tutorials and info?

I did do a search on my hard drive and found a file I had from 2012 titled "CeddyMod_DSM_1v9Cb.zip" which has 2 files inside (20550011.xml & 20550011-mod-1v9Cb-MAF.hex) and 3 folders: "EvoScan_2.6-", "EvoScan_2.7+", and "OpenPort_StandAloneLogging".

EDIT:
I was able to capture some of the gold mine webpages using the Wayback Machine, but the files are another story since there's no way to pay for them now. I would prefer the Complete version so I can use what I want, but the Speed Density version at the least.

Thanks!

The lack of responses tells you that the new, younger owners aren't aware of what Ceddy mods are and how nice it is to have them. Our tuner incorporated them into our black box tune. Maybe the only hope of recovery is to start a site where owners and tuners could share and possibly rebuild the library of tune information. There was the intention to start this process at EatSleepDSMMag.com a few years ago, but it's unclear if it ever happened.

It's sad because I want to go Speed Density (not just that but other tuning as well) but when I was in college I didn't have any extra money to pay for something I will eventually use. Now that I'm getting my car up and running again I wanted to get it but can't. I think the one I have is the basic free one that he offered. If anyone does still have the Complete version, I would love if they shared it since I can't buy it anymore.

Not thread jacking but are black boxes still worth anything as a spare part? I have one but didn't think they were worth anything anymore, maybe I was wrong, but with Ceddy down it may just be a door stop now.

Maybe a dumb question but what about using an evo8 ecu? They are the same plugs as a 2g. Maybe I am missing the point though?

I used to put evo8 ecu’s into my 1g’s which required a custom patch harness. They ran quite well and my friend still has his setup running on speed density.

Lol you can still tune like an Evo. Ceddy Mods is just an addon with some useful and cool things. But you don't need Ceddy Mods in order to tune it.

I haven't researched that. That is good to know, but I don't need an Evo 8 ECU in order to tune, I just wanted the mods to add things that I don't know how to add myself: Speed Density, CEL on knock, and stock boost gauge as a knock gauge to name a few.

I have to find my old computer but I’ve got the paid ceddymods w/ big maps and stuff. No promises on a time table but I’ll host them somewhere and just post them for everyone. If Ceddymods has a problem with this he can contact me and host them somewhere else that you can download after paying. Idc.

Yes please!
I too have the Ceddymods files and including the big maps files, they are on another computer but I know that I have them.
If you find them please post!

Follow the dsmtuners thread , theres a link to the archives directly. There is allot of stuff to look thru once you back out of the directory into the root.

Oh I got you. I found a ceddymod folder in the root but I already have that stuff. Useful for sure, and I found other things I didn't have like the ECU pinout, but I'm looking for the complete version of CeddyMods which has the different maps and everything. Thanks for the link though!

Wish it was more, are the ceddymods all 2g or did they have 1g stuff also?
CeddyMods is only compatible with '98-'99 "Black Box" H8 ECUs (and possibly late '97?) because it is for the flashable ECUs. 1G is incompatible and '95-'96 (and early '97) 2Gs are incompatible. For those, you have to go EPROM with ECM Link, or buy a late 2G ECU. But to be honest, I haven't personally heard of any 1Gs going the Black Box ECU route, though I haven't searched either. I don't even know if a 2G ECU is compatible with 1G. I assume at the very least you'd have to move wires around. 2G owners go with a 2Ga '95 EPROM for ECM Link. ECM Link I think has a wider following since until '98 that's all anyone could do. And due to that, even some late 2G owners get a '95 EPROM and go that route anyway.

Thank you for laying out. I've mainly stuck with 1g and ostrich. Was looking thru some old papers and found "the definitive piggyback tuning guide " i printed from this site in 2003. Now I'm reading some successful evo ecu transplants into 1gs.

Sure thing. Most everyone here will probably tell you to go get an EPROM ECU (if you don't have one already) and ECM Link. That's what I would do if I didn't have a flashable ECU.

Did you find it???

Any updates on this? I just ordered my Openport cable LOL
Im very FAMILIAR with ECUFLASH/ EVOSCAN/ MITSULOGGER having had to use it with my old Evo 8. Hell I think I even have old ROMS for modifying and patching with the infamous TEPHRA MODS.
Im hoping to do the same with my 98 GST having the BLACK BOX ecu :)
Id be willing to contribute to helping out

Definitely cause v3 looks really good now and I wont be the piggy back king anymore. Lol not that burning my own hasnt been fun.
burning a chip would be far from a piggy back, and you'd be even further from the king. Regardless chip/ostrich is a very sound way to go. Mine went 9.80 on the ancient ds-map or whatever it was (not that jackal abomination) bin.

Well I have a working copy on my old computer it looks like. You will need to have Ecuflash installed to use this of course.
