Hey so i was thinking of swapping my 1g (fwd, D22a, gs) MAF to a 2G and with that i need to run bigger injectors and a tune.

The reason why i wanna swap is because market availability here in EU where the aftermarket for 1g parts is pretty small, and I would like to know if I could swap it to a 2g MAF (still considering keeping stock ECU or getting new performance one, or just upgrading it to a 2g ECU) and bigger injectors and tune it without having a DSMlink.

Is it mandatory to have a engine management system like ecm/dsm link or can it be done on a stock system?

You have to define what "tuning" means to you. Can you make it faster? Sure, but you can only go so far with MAF and the stock ECU and the options are limited. I wouldn't really call this tuning. and for that you'll need Link, some other compatible software, or a standalone system (which generally cost more than Link and require more work)

Evaluate your goals and skill level. If you want to seriously get in to this game, just bite the bullet and get ECMLink. If you are just looking for modest increases and don't need every possible % out of it, skip it. You may just want to drop the idea of putting in a 2G ECU entirely.

I recall you can install a 2g maf and 550 injectors with a tune. They cancel each other out.
With or without ?

In this case I'm meaning tuning to make the MAF, ECU and new injectors all run correctly not making it run rich and/or have problems whatsoever that can affect how the car runs, the mile per gallon etc ...

Making everything run smoothly after the swap, for that I need it tuned no? Cause ECU will have different readings cause of new MAF and injectors.

Run the 2g MAF/560 Pink Top Evo injectors and it will do just as @Vegas Smith has mentioned with the stock 1g ECU. I've done it before I had Link in all of my DSMs.

@DSMPT has a good option also. I have 1 DSM that is using a GM MAF and a MAF translator.

Is this for a GS or a GS-T? If it’s non turbo than going 2G maf and 550’s won’t be ideal at all as your ecu thinks it has 250s or whatever size they are.

Could always try to go with an ostrich and tunerpro if it’s a turbo model. Much cheaper than dsmlink and will do what you want it to.

Barring that, idk what to tell you. SAFC style interceptor solutions might be your only option.

I will try and run a 2G MAF with thoose injectors thanks. Whenever i get them will let you know the results

I think those that have beem recommending a MAF and Injector swap missed that this is a NA. SAFC might be the easiest way to do anything.

I haven't tried setting DSMLink up for an NA car but it's technically possible just like modding the NA ECU code.

That’s what I was saying. 2G maf and 550’s is gonna be a nightmare.

TOTALLY missed the N/A so the MAF swap with the EVO injectors is a NO NO. Please disregard.
Thanks fella's!!! :thumb:
