Picking up where we left off…

Broke a piece of the casting on my head off, there was still some decent threads back there so against my liking I decided to send it. Screwed the sert back in and moved forward. It was surprisingly stable.

While installing the exhaust manifold studs I noticed some threaded in more than others.. it was recommended that I chase them to clean them up so I picked up a thread restoration kit from Napa and went on my way. Cleaned them up and they all threaded in pretty much the same after.

Cleaned and polish my intercooler pipes. Painted my power steering heat shield w/high temp plate. Cleaned the exhaust manifold ports and everything else in that area while I had the turbo out.

Snapped two turbo bolts getting my old one off (go figure), received those installed and torqued them with nickel anti seize, hoping they come off better next time.

Went back and forth on running a 90 degree fitting off the OFH vs a straight. Ended up running a straight fitting and a 90 in the line, 24” was almost perfect had my fitting into CHRA not needing adjustment. I’m going to have a local shop fab me up a line with a 45 off the turbo since the current set up rubs on the j pipe pretty hard.
Double checked I put everything back together correctly x10…
Filled it back up with coolant and went for a drive.

Took it super easy the first few times out and then started to get on it a little bit more tonight.

From a log perspective, this turbo is showing an additional 5lbs/min at the same rpm and the same tune. Running into a little bit of knock, looking for more seat time to make adjustments.

Cerakoted exhaust manifold actually paying dividends, it keeps the hood temps much cooler than without. Super surprised with how efficient it seems.

New valve cover and Kiggly HLA.

Chased all the valve cover mounting threads.
Installed the metal half moon, hopefully it stops my leak in that corner.

How many miles on the clock? Sounds like your considering a rebuild this winter? I highly recommend AMS auto and machine in Fort Collins, I’m a little over 300 miles on my engine they built with great oil pressure and a catch can that stays bone dry after pulls:D

I DM’d you some time ago as I saw you were close and you shared that! Much appreciated. Considering either them or MadCap Racing which does have a 4G torque plate. I recently found out they do all the work for Carz Performance and are there sister company.

What kind of performance did you manage with your 20G Bastard?
I have not run it on a dyno, but I do run dead even with a Focus ST that made 360 on a hub dyno that I witnessed first hand. My car is on 22 PSI and a 95 mix. I think I could turn it up a lil more, but my IDC is 83-85% on 37 PSI base and a 190 pump. Squeezing that extra little bit hasn't really been a priority as I just got a 93 MR2 that I has been taking up my time.

I would also add that this car is insanely fun to drive at this power level.

If I can get 380hp at 5600rpm out of a Big16G running 24psi with E25 (94oct)(1part:E85+4part:91pump), you should be able to get quite a bit more up top of your setup. Did you get a clipped turbine wheel?

You have more IDC left to go. Turn up the boost, and timing until you reach your knock threshold. You can use the HP calculator in ECMLink if you get an accurate weight for your car, and plug that in to ECMLink for your HP calculations.

Boredom strikes…

Just been driving the shit out of this thing having tons of fun. Snapped a few photos on a long mountain cruise and back doing some creature comfort mods..

Added a Momo Monte Carlo 350mm steering wheel, been after this for awhile, finally pulled the trigger.

Swapped in a new alternator belt, just for good measure.

Going to paint match my mirrors , waiting on more paint because my can started splattering :(

Lastly, I plan on adding a Innovate coolant temp gauge in the ash tray location, I did a prototype on lexan the final will be carbon fiber..

Dude we’ll have to try and meet up at the track or somewhere in Colorado next year, I’m just up the road in Cheyenne, it’d be pretty cool to meet a fellow dsmtuner:rocks:
