Hey guys I recently got an automatic 04 Lancer LS wagon. It’s been difficult learning anything about this car because the last owner didn’t know anything about it. The air intake is changed, muffler too, but that’s really all I can tell. I believe it’s the 2.4L Inline4 SOHC 16v engine (4G64?? Idk I’m confused). I want to turbo it but I have no idea where to start as far as parts go. This is also my first project. Any information is a help!

I don't think that's an ls. That's a 4g69 which I thought only came in the ralliart. I have a ralliart sedan.

It’s definitely a 4G69. The timing belt snapped on me a few days after this photo so I’m in the process of replacing. Vin shows LS but the engine bay has a plate that says “4g69” on it so go figure. I’ve been looking at 4g69 forums now and turning the engine into an evo engine seems fun. But turbo noises are calling my name I think

I got a reasonably priced ready to bolt on head from headsonly.com.
Be careful with the part numbers as you know the 4g64 is 2.4.

Just had a stroll through ASA and it appears both LS and ralliart came in 2.4 4g69. Learn something new everyday. The ralliart wagon was available only in a/t and it's the same for the LS. My guess is the ralliart added some appearance stuff and possibly suspension. Ralliart is 5 lug wheel and brakes and I suspect LS is 4 lug.
My ralliart sedan is 5 speed. It's a shame the wagon wasn't 5 spd also. It's a nimble fun little sedan. Not crazy but perfect first car for my teen.

Head swap is a pretty straightforward job. The head bolts are TTY. I'm also of the opinion use something other than gates. I bought the car as a broken tbelt victim and I did all the work. Gates belt broke at 50k miles leaving me to do another cyl head. Believe me I was pissed.

I have 4 lugs so LS it is. Previous owners must have thrown the coilovers on etc. I wish it was a 5 speed, heck I'd be willing to swap a manual trans in there if I could find out how to do it. Are timing belt replacements or issues usually more than just changing the belts & pulleys? Should I be looking for issues elsewhere? I had a mechanic come and do a diagnostic (it was mainly visual with the exception of exposing the belt from its housing) and we saw that the engine would turn over but the belt wouldn't move.
I will check that site out for the headers, thank you!

Yes. There is a hydraulic tensioner just like a DSM

any part brand recommendations? I don't see many. Gates, Dycan, SCITOO and the ebay/amazon guys, and Contitech. Do I need to get new seals or can I use old ones from my car? That's like a $200 difference in price

200$ difference?
I usually use oem or gates. This time I went with a continental timing belt and an aisin timing belt hydraulic tensioner.
