I'm going to invite you to my garage so you can do this. With the added difficulty of working on a car with perfect exterior pain!I actually wrote a very detailed how to in the articles section under exterior of you want to check it out. Basically what I do though is I take it all the way down to bare metal with a wire wheel, then use new seam sealer on any parts I took off or even new spots I feel should have had some in the first place. After that I put a coat of the rust inhibitor spray from rustoleum down. Then I put a coat of self etching paint over that, and then a light primer color over that. All by rustoleum. Then I have paint I had mixed from automotive touch up and I spray it with an atomizer sprayer from home depot. After that I spray a clear coat over that also from automotive touch up. It’s not obv 100% professional but it does the job and actually looks amazing. Feel like once I dial in the mixture of thinner/base/activator or hardener it could be better .
