Yup that's the one, the 2nd pic in post #2 in that thread. When I download that one to check it out it is still 2160 x 2880 pixels and file size 1,082,069 bytes just like the one I have been saving since 2019. So good that takes care of it!

LOL I see you did what I was talking about in that thread started by Moovingon1GEclipse - gave him a link to the 2019 thread where he can see the shot in full quality.
Thanks!

Well it has been A LONG TIME since I was able to post anything POSITIVE about my beloved 92 6/4 Auto car and as anyone that has followed this thread knows that I am/WAS about to throw in the towel on my DSMs and go back to my domestic fun.
TODAY I have different news.
I found a pretty good amount of clear "jel" in my FuelLab 10 micron filter. I replaced it with a new element and also cleaned the old element. Yesterday, I cranked the base fuel pressure up to 60 and the car did drive and drive better but still wouldn't raise fuel pressure 1:1.
This afternoon I pulled my 525 pump out and it's sock had a noticeable amount of the same shit in it. I cleaned the sock out with brake parts cleaner and went for a drive with my oldest son keeping his eyes on the FP gauge and guess what? IT BOOSTED, FELT REALLY GOOD since its been a year that it ran good at all. After that pull (nope, no log, just a drive) she went back to running horribly again. I felt some "funky" stuff in the tank before I reinstalled the pump so I am about 99% sure that the tank needs dropped out and cleaned. Now I'm not sure how it comes out but I am not wasting another year of my life so whatever it takes, surely that won't take a year or I give up.
Feeling boost again will keep me going until a clean tank DOESN'T fix my problem. Don't worry, I'm pretty sure I have finally found the issue which would explain also why it would run good ONCE, after every new (3 of them) pump change.
FINGERS CROSSED.
Thanks for following along!!! Maybe we can get back to some of those fun car videos again!!! :thumb:

I am so sure this is the issue and probably the same issue with my White 1990. :)
Help me out, what would be a good "cleaner" for the stock fuel tank???

I am actually "excited" again. It's a GOOD feeling for an old guy! :D:thumb:
I will now see if the good ole search button works for how to remove the tank, then, and help me out here, how do I clean it (I mean what would you guys use?).

Old E85 Pat. I was keeping over 55 gallons on hand at the shop since it was a 1 hour and 15 minute drive to the nearest station. I will be cleaning both of my barrels, one is empty and one might have 20 gallons in it. I now have a station that carries E on my way to work everyday, so I won't need to keep so much fuel, that goes bad, at the shop.
I found a "Gas tank cleaning kit" at Autozone that I am going to see about using, cleaning all filters/socks and lines again and I think all will be good to go.
The bad........I have another DSM (the White 90 GSX) doing the same thing with the same fuel so I have to do two tanks but, hey, what the hell. I will smile again when it is all done and I can actually drive the cars again (with the biggest dam smile you can put on my face!).

:D See!!!!

POR15 has a good restoration kit if you want to go that route. Seems to me if you're going to drop the tank and clean it why not go all the way and get the most out of it? https://por15.com/collections/fuel-tank-restoration. I've been considering this unless I find a better one by the time I'm ready for this part. I would also coat the outside to protect it further with a quality undercoating as I can't remember who did in their build thread on here, especially where we can't buy new tanks. I'm glad you found the culprit and waiting to see some more of those videos. Thanks again for helping me with my beginning stumbles on here Marty.

Thanks guys, I have looked at POR15, not sure I need to do that but something may pop up that would require it.
Deric, I basically dumped all of the E out of BOTH of my cars months ago and went back to tuning on gas. I kinda feel like when I added the gas ( we all read that we should "pickle" injectors with gas after running E) to clean everything out, it made the problem worse. I have 5 gallons of regular 91 octane in both cars but it doesn't seem to effect that slime at all.
My first actions will be to get all the fuel out. Next I plan to see if I can reach the insides of the tank with a scrub brush with a long handle on it. If I CAN reach around in there thru the top, where the pump bolts in, I will "attempt" to do a cleaning in the car (the cleaner isn't expensive so I want to try since I have to do 2 cars). Reviews on the cleaner are positive but I won't say it's gonna work yet.
If I can't reach around in the tank enough to get to 90% of the areas, then I will drop tank 1 and will clean it that way. Currently my lift has my sons car on it that needs its gas tank dropped also, so what a coincidence. (He has a Holley EFI setup that requires a fuel return, his car was never fuel injected so he is installing a bulkhead fitting for that and I will update how the THOR 400 SBC likes it).
If I see any problem areas, then I will be considering POR15 after the cleaning is done. Hell, I thought if I had the tank out, why not just take it to the car wash and give it a good bath all around, but I haven't decided on that yet either. With the shop being occupied for the next week or so, I can try the in the car method and if I feel it just wasn't good enough, I can put the car on the lift after his comes off. I don't mind taking the tank out but for the $10 buks the cleaning kit cost me (I have a commercial account), I am going to see what I can do/get to after I drain the tank and get the pump assy out.
Those are the plans, I know one will get the job done and I can get back to re-tuning it on FRESH E85. She loves that stuff, just doesn't like me letting her sit. She insists on being DRIVEN and drive her I will if she comes back to her former self! :thumb:

I watched the video for the Delphi fuel tank cleaning kit and was hoping at first that he was going to show cleaning the tank with a siphon pump without turning it upside down, which we could do since ours is accessible from the trunk.
But no, he turned it upside down before cleaning and again during the rinse process.
The other thing about it was that he didn't even use the Delphi stuff at all. He did the cleaning with dish soap and a lot of water.
And the oh-no moment was when he stuck his whole arm in through the fuel pump hole for cleaning. Was a much bigger hole than we have in our tanks.
Ah well, we are tool users and tool makers. There will be a way.

Not sure you can get ahold of it anymore but muriatic acid works amazing for cleaning tanks. I used it on a laser’s gas tank that was rusting so bad the pump looked like it had been drug through mud, and it came out brand new. Didn’t eat the metal or etc.

This was like 12 years ago though. Not sure how easy that stuff is to find anymore.

This brush will be here today. I won't have the chance to use it until this weekend (which I have to work), but I am gonna see. It may not work, It may. I will post results guys. :thumb:

All done! Started at 3 done at 8.
Time for a beer and some food!

Well I took the Talon out on a "run the gas out of her" drive, not far just gradually running it out and, out of the blue, here shows up a ZX-6R. We have a little tango and he calls it 1-1. I call it 2-0 but hell, not tuned, just base files back in her and on 91 octane.
My son says its the HX40 "Talikin" as I rode around in my sleeper.
It was fun but I am sorry to say, it was so quick to happen, no log, no video so it officially "didn't happen". He took a raincheck on a 3rd.
Just some fun shenanigans we like to have with the car.
Much more to come as I get her back on E and good timing! She was pulling timing DRASTICALLY so I just had to give in.
Stay "tuned" though!!!! :sneaky::thumb:

Any pool store has it. Buy it all the time.

What I used to clean the tank was nothing more than Dawn dish soap and water and a scrub brush. I used the store bought product, then decided, what the hell, and went to the kitchen and got the Dawn. I cleaned the tank 3 times with just good ole soap and water.
So far it has remedied the issue.

As of about 15 mins ago, SHE'S BACK ON E, BITCHES!!!!:thumb:
Combined and Short term trims all within .05%. I feel good and am done for today.

I believe so. When I pumped the gas out today, I felt the tank and it had no trace of the slimey stuff that was on/in it. That slime collected on the sock and the sock, I assume, would get sucked together not allowing fuel to BE delivered. Once I cleared up the tank and the sock, it has been good. Needs re-tuned now, but the fuel delivery issue was a fuel supply issue in the end. I told y'all it'd be something silly and stupid and easy and it was. I feel better and so does the car. A bit lean so I will mess with the tune tomorrow or asap. :thumb:

Lost overdrive yesterday. Had a weird issue with my standalone tcu. I "think" an endclutch rebuild is all I need to do but am waiting to hear from a specialist before I do it. Not a big deal, yet it is. I am just wanting to drive the car, not even getting to have only a few smiles. I need smiles for miles :)
I will be doing the repair this week sometime if suggested and crossing my fingers. Until then, I will relax and try not to think about it. :thumb:
