More and more people are toying with 3D printing for car parts. If you've printed any parts for your car, please post some articles in this section describing how you did it. Whether if was for your DSM or not. With more and more OEM DSM parts becoming obsolete (no longer produced) 3D printing will become a popular option in this community.

Here are some resources I found to give people more info on getting started with 3D printing car parts.

I only found this one.

Well, that is something. I have the covers intact. What I need is the surround that the covers snap into.

I found this a couple of days ago and signed up to be a "backer" for the early bird option yesterday. Its a 3D scanner from Creality set to release in April. Based on the videos I have seen on youtube, this thing looks amazing. Especially for only $400.

This seems to me like a low cost of entry to a very powerful tool once you get the hang of using it and the post-processing.

I considered this also but decided I’d wait a few years. I’ve gone 30 years without it, why get this one when one 3x as good will be out in no time from these two companies battling it out.

If anyone has a student email, look into onshape. I’ve used all of the big name modeling softwares and this one impressed me the most.

My plan is to eventually make 2G tail lights that have louvers on them, very similar to what Testarossa's had.

I'm thinking that I'd find an old used set of tails and cut the lens along its boundary edges, then inset it by about half an inch, maybe more. Do this all the way across the rear (including the centerpiece), then 3d print fins that can be fixed into place. I'd probably want to make the fins 1-1.5 inches in depth but would actually have to have a mock up to see how it looks.
That is my idea though...if anyone beats me to it, I'd possibly buy a set off you.

I think it would look pretty sick if done right.

Love the creativity dood

I have really taken to taking parts off my 2g and designing them, a few of the pieces I have printed for other but for the most part I just keep to designing. Here are a some of the pieces I have got so far. If I did this correctly it should be as follows, Floor mat keeper, Fuse box cover, cargo net holder and cargo cover pivot pin, sunvisor clip, Door striker covers, center console side cover screw caps, small cover for panel under steering wheel, door panel screw cover in the pull handle and finally windshield wiper screw cover

Fantastic! Great job. Could you make some of these available to other members?

I also drew this thing a while ago. It's the plastic that "latches" in the windows adjuster thingy when the windows are up. It helps with the windows ratlling of the 2g DSM, i've printed a bunch of them for friends since almost every DSM i''ve seen has them broken, specially the driver's side and they've held pretty good so far.

File here if anyone needs it.

Nice work.

Did you mean when the windows are *down*? Because that’s when they rattle when closing the door.

If this is on a 2G, we missed seeing it (maybe because it was missing?), or is this a part you created to solve a factory problem?

Maybe this is why our Spyder’s passenger window has deep gouges in the glass.

Will you please add a photo or two to show where this attaches on a 2G. Thank you for your creativity to solve a common DSM problem.

I wanted to take the time to take pics and all but the battery of the car is completly dead so I cant take pictures from all angles.

Anyways, this is a factory part. When you put the windows up, this plastic thing I drew "latches" into the adjuster you see marked in red in the pictures (taken from youtube).

Thank you!! Now I'll check if ours are missing when the car gets out of storage this spring.

Not sure if this is someone on here, but it seems these guys have been making some small things here and there for our cars.

His name is Ryan Lake, I tested some of his parts before they went for sale(most notably the shifter bushings), his work is top notch.

if thats the same insert dimensions as the Galant coin trays I have a blank clip that snaps right in. I made up one to hold the internals for an Anker cigarette usb charger, works great
