I placed an order for 95 AWD vented rear rotors back in April, as aftermarket vendors were discontinuing them as well and of course, Mitsu didn't have any.

I didn't think that we were ever going to see them, but today Mitsu dropped off a box that was a lot heavier than expected...

Inside were 3 sets (6 total rotors), with that fabled "MR128661" part number. I quickly checked Mitsu's U.S. stock, and sure enough, that's all they brought into the U.S., or I would have grabbed some more.

One set is already spoken for, which leaves two sets remaining.

They can be ordered here: https://jnztuning.com/product/1995-dsm-awd-rear-vented-rotors-get-them-while-you-can/

Are these really tough to get even in aftermarket brands then? Maybe i can look at getting then remade since im stsrting to do brakes now

Not sure if it's worth it if there initial investment is too high, as it's a limited market, which is why places like Centric, etc., have discontinued them.

You also have to watch the listings for ones on sites that *say* that they're for 1995 AWD cars---at lot of time they're listed for the '95s but are *not* the correct vented units and don't fit. This has been another issue with finding these, going back as long as I can remember.

I think for an oem its ok but most go the upgraded route now anyway and honestly most are not into concourse original equipment anyway on these chassis LOL

Bobby,

These are for the early '95 units. Not the late '95-'99 cars which are different. Most people still have the stock rear brakes on these cars (or a version of it).

These are specific to this production date, and are not the same as your car (which originally came with non-vented rotors, and different calipers).

"concours" isn't the issue. It's finding anything that *FITS* these particular cars that's the hard part at this point. I get people calling about twice a month asking if we have them because they aren't able to find them anywhere.

Yeah i know the 95 vented ones your on about LOL, I always saw people get brembos or bigger brakes. If you can get me some oem sizes from the rotor i can ask the question on making some.

These rotors really aren't rare if you know how to look for them. Right now I'm looking at 6 different available brands, all are ~$30-45 per rotor, brands are: Blue Print, Nipparts, Ashika, Trusting, Delphi, Bosch. Personally I bought Blue Prints as I like their price per quality factor. My '96 Talon originally came with standard rear 262mm non-vented rotors, however I bought the Blue Print 284mm vented rotor and got the appropriate caliper from a 1998 Galant VR-4. The same exact caliper and rotor combo are used on many other Mitsubishis, including 3000GTs, Galants, EVO 4 and god knows how many other models.

If you really got no options in the US I could probably look into supplying you with however many I can buy and send from here. Or wait till Bobby puts out his rear kit also.

Didn't the first gen 3000gt vr4 here in the states use the same rear brake set up?

I have an early 95 with rear vented rotors but have not needed to service them as i don't drive it much at all.

No, the rear 3000GT brakes (early or late) use an MB618828 rear rotor which won't fit the '95 GSX/TSI AWD rear vented units.

Please tell me the actual part # you're finding under these brands, as the models your listing use *different* rear rotors. They are *NOT* the same as 3000GT units. The rest, I can confirm or deny fitment via part numbers, but OEM spec units you've listed so far are NOT replacements without changing other aspects.

If you can give me part numbers so that I can dig into them, I'll gladly send these back to Mitsu.

At the same time, all I've seen in this thread are "oh! These are easy to get!" from people who don't own the vented '95 cars (or misinformation as to what fits.).

The major brake manufacturers (since these cars were produced) were spotty at best as to what actually fits them. Many people (who have these cars) order them from places 2-3 times until they find out that the listing is wrong. Centric was our "Go-To" place for many years who actually realized the difference between the two.

They have since discontinued them as they are only a subset of cars that use them and sales were not enough to continue them. But now, with Mitsu making them ridiculously hard to obtain and the other vendors (there was one other that I know of other than Centric...and they've always been spotty on availability and quality control) discontinuing them, they're exceedingly hard to find.

I would be more than happy to wash my hands of this once someone posts a supply line of actual "Early" (yet which means most of the 1995 production run AWD cars) rotors that will fit these.

I've looked quite often over month via U.S. supply chains, and have come up with little to nothing.

@DSSA Josh before you send the last rotor out send me all the specs and measurements if you dont mind. That way i can see what i can do

Like I said, I've upgraded to the bigger vented brakes in the rear using the same part number for both caliper, rotor and pad on my Talon, complete bolt-on procedure in terms of bolt spacing (140mm at the mounting tabs), no shims or washers required, no grinding or installing of external hardware. My brother also has a 2000 VR4 which comes stock with the same exact setup in the rear, so when I did his brakes, I installed the same stuff (Blue Print again). I still have his old crusty vented brakes which I could show you that proves these brakes were NOT specific to an early 95 DSM.

As for specific part numbers, here's at least 7 that readily show up with a price and in stock label. The important dimensions which they all share are 5x114,3 bolt pattern, 284mm diameter, 60mm height, 20mm rotor thickness, vented of course.

BOSCH - 0 986 479 V40

DELPHI - BG9849

ASHIKA - 61-05-523

TEXTAR - 92134700

TRUSTING - DF1138

BLUE PRINT ADC44366

NIPPARTS - J3315020

Here's a picture showing the part number used on a '98-'02 VR4. They didn't even list an updated or superseded part number, yet this is 3-7 years AFTER the early '95. This is actually a rotor/caliper setup used on other sportier/higher-end models during that time and DSM probably thought it would be good to put them on early 2Gs but then decided it was not worth the added cost nor performance improvement (which was UNTRUE as we all know these cars don't stop for shit). They also probably did not want to have a visually "bigger" disc in the rear (284mm) versus the 276mm fronts on turbo cars, or 256mm on our EU 2Gs...

Hmmm. I'll check my 95 when I get home and see if I have the vented rotors.

I'll be needing new ones since the axles are SEIZED into the fawking hubs.

The issue, is that none of those cars were in the U.S., and those parts are not stocking parts in the U.S.

If someone wants to get them from Europe/Asia, that's fantastic that there's options over there.

If I recall, the 4G Eclipse GT rear rotors are 284mm and vented. Also, the Diamante Wagon comes with 284mm rear disc but i'm not sure if they are discontinue.

4G uses 4615A111 rotors. The Diamante Wagons used AW332010 (long discontinued).

*For the U.S. Market*, the only car that uses these rotors are the earlier production 1995 AWD DSMs.

You use the complete early 95 rear brake setup rotors and calipers and I did the outlander front brake swap. It was the one of the cheapest brake upgrades. That was on a gst.

Unsure if I've ever really got the rears hot enough to warrant upgrading them to the vented setup. You should be able to swap them to a GST with calipers, rotors, and pads without trouble.

I have a 3G master cylinder and brake booster and outlander front brakes and I'm happy with the setup overall. I take the car to Tail of the Dragon and really send it out there. The rear does seem to lock up before the front and can make the car rotate on braking if you're not careful. It definitely performs when you need it to stop. I've never absolutely cooked them to the point of failure, but the rears seem to handle everything a little better after a few runs on the mountain. They might pair up a little better with something a bit bigger in the front than the outlander brakes. I have been using the powerstop Z26 on the front and powerstop Z23 in the rear.

I also have a set of calipers I'll part with if you're interested.

i work for summit racing now. this are the others ones that ive found to work

.790 nominal thickness

awesome information guys! THANK YOU!
looking forward to balancing out the brakes and handling before i move to cranking up the HP. My GST just came out of a very long nap....stock.
Appreciate the data!
