The extractors i borrowed from work were a bust i couldn't get a socket over the od of the extractor. I ordered a set with an ID square drive in the middle hopefully they will work.

Starting to clean the ports and get it ready for the machine shop. The inside of the intake needs a really good cleaning. Big old to do list but no more for today time to go play with my kids for the rest of the day.

Hoping to get an opinion. Do the valve tops look healthy? They have deposits on the exhaust tops but they look like they are sealing pretty good flatness wise.

Same here. Looks normal. Have you done a compression test prior? You can put plugs in and pour water and let it sit over night to see if any leak.
Sure did and the comp fell in spec 171-168-166-169
I was concerned with the exhaust valves. Look wise i don't have a good eye for them. I really need to get a mic though.

Those numbers are good so I wouldn’t worry too much about it. But since you have the head off, I’d replace the valve seals. Cleaning the valves are optional. I used sea foam and let it soak and used a toothbrush to clean the carbon deposit (it gets messy and wear goggles). I’m sure there are other products out there. But your combustion chamber doesn’t look too bad.

Right on I will do that then. I have the 1g intake just like yours did you use any special techiques to clean it out real good. Or did you just use seafoam like the head? The inside is kind of nasty.

Intake tube to turbo?

I think a lot of the nasty stuff came from when the turbo seal was bad before i replaced the cartridge. I feel you on the brake cleaner that stuff is getting outrageous even the cheap brands.

Good god i think I need a new head. Machine guy called me about nicking the valves when decking the head. I picked it up and brought it home. I feel sick.
