Not finding a lot of options on this one. I've already been asking around, and I may have a couple leads, but I figured I'd ask in a thread anyway.

Any leads on where I can find a Hot Parts kit? Still learning how it all pieces together in the grand scheme of things, but I am seeing some wild price differences in my findings. Is it going to cost 2k whatever way I go with the setup?

Figured it couldn't hurt to put it out there. Thanks!
 
You need to be more specific? What parts do you need? What are you trying to do?
I'm just replacing an old setup from a previous owner. Manifold was cracked, and we're trying to get everything back to 100%. The shop I work with recommended just replacing all the "hot parts." I'll admit I'm still trying to wrap my head around what all that entails, but from what I do know:

I need a manifold. Previously there was an Evo III 16g on an FP Race Manifold. It looks like we're going to do a 20g turbo. Details on that are still pending, but I do know the manifold needs to be compatible with turbo. It is possible that I could just get another FP Race Manifold, but it made sense to research if I can get one along with any other connecting piping.

At risk of looking even dumber: does TD05 have to do with the size/fitting of the turbo? Just seeking some insight.

A new turbo should come with a turbine housing. Unless you run a t3 housing you do not want that first kit. Dsm flange and t3 flange are different things.

The cxracing stuff is generally known as Chinese knockoff stuff and is not high quality.

If you're doing a 20g which one? Anything off ebay etc should be avoided. If you need another fp manifold then call them. Which turbo and setup you choose will dictate what manifold, o2 housing and down pipe you need. O2 and downpipe you already have may be fine. Depends on what you're doing. The shop should have been more clear than "hot parts"

It was definitely a good call on their part because I’m already finding that some things are having to be done custom since the discontinuation or scarcity of some parts.

I just typed the whole thing out, but realized it was wayyy too long-winded to put here. I’ll just stick to my turbo problem.

I know zilch about how turbos work outside of the basics. I was originally thinking I’d just replace the Evo III 16g and FP manifold that were already on the car, but I think they’re just trying to explain to me that we’d be better off getting the manifold along with other parts it may connect to. I think they’re just wanting to make sure we have congruent parts to avoid fitment issues and compatibility problems.

Basically, just assume the whole turbo setup is bad. What all would you consider? I’m not necessarily expecting a specific answer, especially if there are a ton of possibilities. I’m just asking what your thought process would be if replacing a turbo, and replacing the manifold along with it.
 
Well thats hard to answer without knowing what you're doing with the car. Racecar? Daily driver? 1000hp monster?
You gotta throw us a bone. We're you satisfied with the 16g?
 
Trackable daily. I recently bought it, haven’t driven it. It’s in the process of rebuild. Engine is at MAPerformance. Trying to get everything we can together before we fire it back up.
 
Maperformance should be able to specify what you need if you discuss what you want the car to do. If you're going to daily the car my personal choice is a 16g. It is not the fastest but they are a fun turbo. Forced performance 68hta comes to mind also. "Daily trackable" means different things for different people.

We just finished a build thats a 6466 10:1 car. He considers that a weekend/ street car, Most would call that something different. What is your goals power wise.

Since some of the members here contributed to this thread, and others are genuinely intrigued, such as myself, care to share what you found and what direction you are going in? The info you have found or were given may or may not be the best solution for your goals. As I was reading through the suggestions and your replies, my own opinions started to form. I won't bother sharing them until I know what direction you think you want to go now.

What I was looking for is actually the "hot side" of the turbo setup. For the cold side, I was having a hard time finding intercooler piping for a while. I ended up finding a decent intercooler that comes with a kit, and just didn't quite know how to explain what I needed for the hot side. A package that included a downpipe, manifold, oil lines, etc.

Basically, I was looking for a Turbo Install Kit.

Fitment was the main concern, so I didn't want to buy a bunch of separate parts from different places and have issues when I could have bundled things that should already go together. After looking around more I finally realized the term was "Turbo Install Kit," and was able to find one.

I'm rebuilding a GSX with a new engine. We're trying to get everything we can together by the time the long block comes back so we can fire it up.

I've been looking around, and I think I'm basically going to go with a slightly rearranged version of the old setup. It had an Evo III 16G turbo. It's meant to be a street car that I can track, so I'm not going for massive power. I care more about braking and remaining nimble. The car can be refined over time, so this is basically just a 'base setup' to get started with, and I might just stick with it if it ends up working well.
 
The intercooler kit (core + piping) almost never has any bearing on the hot parts kit (exhaust manifold/O2 housing/downpipe). They are almost always exclusive to one another. The only time this may not hold true is if you are running a forward facing turbo setup with the turbo mounted down around the foglight/headlight area. A good hot parts kit will be fabricated around existing OEM components, and should not interfere with anything FMIC related.

For your case, a 16g/20g turbo does not NEED an aftermarket exhaust manifold. A stock 2G exhaust manifold free of cracks will serve it's purpose and your needs just fine, along with a stock 2G O2 housing. Don't spend money where you don't need to. Spend it elsewhere on the car (like your big brakes and suspension needs).
 
I was only mentioning the intercooler to explain that I was having a hard time finding parts for both the cold side and the hot side.

I know what you're saying about the other stuff, I just couldn't quite figure out how to articulate it in context. Basically, I'm caught up now. Thanks!
 
Hot parts kit usually means an exhaust manifold (like a custom tubular or a oem-style fp manifold), a turbo exit pipe (custom tubular exit or an oem-style "o2 housing") and a downpipe that connects the turbo exit to your full exhaust. It's all very confusing if you've never heard of this stuff.

Yeah, definitely. I just wanted to make sure I got everything. I didn't know if I was just looking for pipes or if there were more small things, like the oil lines. I would have missed that.
