Well I went a little further with my harness than I had planned. I wrapped most of it in some braided loom that I bought, and did a partial tuck. I got rid of some unused connectors to make the harness less bulky. Overall I'm happy with it. I did buy some braided loom for the main harness trunk, but I quickly found out it would have been way too difficult to feed all the wires through the sleeve since the wires had pins on the end. So I'll probably buy some split braided loom to do the main harness sections.

I finally got in an order from ExtremePSI and I was able to put everything back together. The difference in the engine bay may look subtle, but to me it's huge. Everything is much cleaner looking now, and less cluttered. I also cleaned the underside of my hood, and that looks much better as well. I didn't snag a before pic, so I just stole a pic from around when I first got the GSX.

Stuff from ExtremePSI:

What wire loom did you use? Love the look.

Wiring is my weak point, but will be what I clean up this coming winter and aim for all new engine harness clips.
I used this stuff right here.

And then I added a piece of heat shrink on both ends to keep it from sliding. It takes some getting use to, because it's like a Chinese finger trap. I used a lot of 1/4 inch loom, but that was mainly since I didn't connect branches together.

I would suggest buying a good quality depinning set, not the ones I have linked below. I have a set similar to the ones below, and while they did work, they were flimsy and probably not the best tool for the job.

I also used this tape, instead of traditional electrical tape.

I would suggest taking pictures of each connector before you depin them, while following the "2g DSM Engine Bay Electrical Connections" guide.

Since I haven't posted in a while, I figured I would share what's been going on with the GSX.

I picked up a used HKS Bov from a guy on Facebook.

I also bought some carbon interior goodies from @tuningartofficial/simonetrippini on Instagram.
Both sets of pieces were really nice and I had no complaints. I just wanted some carbon to spice up the interior 🔥
Since the mirror cover things always break on the 2g's, I thought these would be a good alternative. And I could save my stock ones since they aren't broken.

Enjoy!

There's been a pretty decent time gap between the previous post and this one.

Ever since I bought the car, it's smoked. Mainly at idle, and it's just gotten worse with time.
So I thought why not pull the manifold and turbo to check on the valve stem seals.

Well I found that manifold flange, gaskets, and spacer were all covered in oil. All 4 exhaust runners were wet and oily too (hard to see in the pics).Looks like valve stem seals to me. They've never been replaced as far as I know, so what better time to do it.
While I'm in there I decided to do some more maintenance and upgrades … hint...hint :sneaky:

If you've made it this far, great! I'm just gonna leave this here

Lots of good stuff. Noticed the Kiggly box did you pick up the Oil Pressure Regulator? I recently got mine this year and its a great product. Keep up the good work:thumb:!

Looking good! How do you like the new steering rack?
I like it! I think I got it a little off center when I put it back in, but you can't tell.
It's not too hard to turn, and really cleans the engine bay up.
I am curious to see how the NDD Motorsports rack compares though.

What's up! As you could see from the end of the last post I had a pretty nice parts hoard.

I picked up was a new to me recirculated o2 housing, with a new wastegate, from @Dsm Rob. Thanks again :thumb:

I had been wanting some hood struts for a while I picked up some of those. They're kind of weak, but hold the hood up just fine.
They also make working in the engine bay easier, because you don't have to worry about the hood prop.

I also got some new Prothane Mounts all the way around.

Then I started removing my accessory belts and pulleys.

I decided to replace my AC belt tensioner bearing while I was in there. The new bearing I got was an SKF bearing, and I found the part number from a 3000gt forum I believe.

Alright before I removed the timing belt I lined up all my timing marks … duh. And to my surprise they didn't all line up. What?WTF
More on that later. Here are the marks, and a few teardown pictures.

Now, the whole reason I tore into this thing to begin with. The valve stem seals!

Also got a Kiggly HLA

Remember how I said my timing marks didn't line up earlier. Well went I went to go put my trigger plate and crank sprocket back on, I became confused very quickly. Someone before me had offset the trigger plate, sprocket, and had an offset key. WTF
So I bought some new ones.

Next up was setting the timing

Cleaned up the timing cover and got some new bolts for it. Pretty sure this thing was black when I took it off. Really should've bought a new one though.
