New pictures after assembly. Just waiting on some break in oil and I can fire it up. This has been such a drawn out difficult engine build and I am glad I did it, I got a lot of help here on the forum. Thank for all you guys who gave me advice.

Got some break in oil . I also coated the exhaust manifold. it didn't turn out terrible but i will have to wait to see how it holds up.

🥳
Successful first start up! Too late to do the full cam break in 1200rpm for 20 minutes. No leaks idle is super consistent, no knock, ideal AFR, and superb oil pressure. Once the cams are prime I can do my first shake down. Fingers crossed i didn't miss anything.

Been driving the car alot today and everything is nearly perfect, each venture out i found something out of place. The air intake boot was sitting on cockeyed allowing un metered air in. The pipe off the turbo exit was bleeding a lb per second. Another was.t-clamp not tightened during reassembly:banghead:.
:cool:On a better note the motor idles better than ever. Even with the above issues the car still accelerated like a rocket .would post a video but for some reason i can't upload videos. Got about 950 more miles left on the break in oil.

Don’t think it’s necessary to break in the cams but no big deal. Glad it running good 👍
I kind of thought the same but i didn't want to mess up the head with all the new parts. My EGT gasket was leaking after a few cruises so I made a stainless 1/16 gasket at work the other day and been through 3 blt's so far LOL. I think that might be my worst issue is coupler leaks.

Been cruising the car a few times doing some shake downs with all the new upgrades and repairs done to the head. Found a coolant leak to in the loop line FIAV ports on the engine annoying due to me using the very expensive genuine mitsubishi long life coolant, those of you that use it too know exactly what I mean $$$. The charge system holds my boost setting with no bleed off. I ended up taring down the whole charge system and using light amounts of hair spray in the ID of the joiners which was a trick I used on my neon that never failed (god help you when you disassemble...)
With the engine work done the next thing to do was to get the 4 months worth of garage dust cleaned off. So I called in the pro and future owner .

I did a short clip to just show the new gauges in action, kind of lack luster but I don't run my car very hard in public that's what the track is for. or maybe im getting old LOL.

Gotta love your little helper Gal!!!!! I bet you are smiling from ear to ear now that the car is up and running! Good job and very rewarding feeling!!! :thumb:
Marty

Man it is always fun to help out others and see it thru to the end. For me, that part is rewarding. Never fear, if you have a question that I can help with, just hit me up!

i love this community and the builds you all have. best way to spend my time is reading through all these builds instead of getting depressed scrolling through facebook and seeing how messed up the world is LOL awesome 2g! that thing is literally perfect :thumb:
Thank you for that, me too i don't have any media accounts except here on this forum. These cars are getting very old and they are dying off as well. For the most part only the most dedicated DSM owners are still doing this platform which makes for some rich and fun content all over the place here. I would like to do a full factory repaint of the car but i can't justify it. Fresh paint would only make me paranoid to drive it anywhere.

I couldn't find a fault with the way she looks, I think the car looks absolutely fantastic. Hell, my stuff has duct tape on it...….OMG :shhh:

I do use Instagram only because I can control what I see, with Facebook its usually always crap, politics and everything hateful. I was apart of dsmtuners years ago when I had my 2 gsx's but stepped away for a while to try out other cars/bikes. It feels good to be home though LOL got me a Evo 3, 2 weeks ago and I'm in love 😍

thanks brother, but I too have a couple of "unofficial questionable fixes" too LOL.

Incredible car, and awesome work man. 👍 You mentioned a repaint, but your paint looks great in your photos? Is it blemished or something? Mine was damaged from what I can only guess was a bird mess... 😆 The sun cooked the clear coat on the roof too... 🤷‍♂️

But yeah, it looks great and Northstar White is just beautiful on the 2g's. Keep up the great work!

Thank you for the kind words. About the paint I'm just a perfectionist and really want it to look brand new like it just got purchased from the dealership. No blimish or chips no rust anywhere. Just picky LOL. Man i love this forum i wish i would have gone back to dsm sooner you guys are great people and the support and compliments mean a ton to me.

Unfortunately during my last little shake down the head gasket started to leak near the thermostat housing. Leak is tiny so more than likely there is minimal damage and the engine temp never went above normal. New gasket ordered and will begin pulling the head over the weekend. Got to love that dsm life😒

No pictures for this update unfortunately i didn't want to stop working. The gasket failure was my own fault i made a mistake and damaged it during reassembly. Its all back together new gasket in place and plan to start driving it to work a couple times a week to put some miles on it. Now i can keep the car on track for my dyno session next month.
:hellyeah:
