I have a 2.4l fwd automatic trans convertible 3g eclipse w/ the 4g64 sohc. So I want to install a 4g63 head dohc stroker but don’t have any experience wrenching so for starters I want to know if I need to buy the heads off an auto fwd or can it be from a mt? And as I believe mine is a 7 bolt I assume I need a 7bolt 63?

3g cars have the engine on the passenger side, 1g/2g 4g63 and 2g 4g64 cars have it on the drivers side. That means the 1g and 2g DOHC head won't work. you would need something like an evo 4g63 head or i believe there is a kia head that will work.

Do you think a mivec head from an evo 9 would work?
Yes, but you would need an evo 9 ecu to make it work with the mivec, if that's what you're going for.
I would recommend checking https://www.club3g.com/. As that is a 3rd gen focused forum.
Your engine is 180 degrees from ours, so not all info you find here will apply.
Evolutionm.net would also be a good source for info, as people often swap the 4g64 into evos.

Good luck with your project!
