Ok guys i need some advice please.
Im on my third set of lifters For my 98 spyder 4g64 gs auto. Put in new ones about 400 miles ago and the "Tick" is already back..aargh! So i got what they said were "high performance" ones. (All sets are 3rd gen)
The newest set are from melling and under close inspection i found many defects. (Before instalation thank goodness) The pinch ring on some are super loose. And on a couple of them the side oil hole is completly obscured!
Can someone Please tell me where i can get some quality lifters for my poor spyder.
Thank you for all your awesome advice my fellow DSMers.

I bought a set of the gsc lifters but have not run them yet. I hope they were not on your list of bad lifters.
No, I didnt try the gsc ones. But i know that lifters are definatly one of the parts you dont want to go "budget" on With our cars for sure.
Check them for loose pinch rings, defective oil holes and consistent spring pressure throughout the set. (Ive encountered all of these defects unfortunatly)
Oh yeah, make sure you got the 3rd gen ones too. They have a much larger oil hole in the top, about 3mm wide.

The GSC lifters are not for 4g64.
I have installed a couple of cheap eBay 4g64 lifters for customers. It seems those are working ok so far. But maybe they were just lucky.
The best option would be new OEM lifters but sure it would cost way more...

Also while I am thinking about it, make sure that you clean those rocker arms really well, they get clogged up where the oil hole is in them where the oil exits, if oil cant get out of the cam follower then oil cant get into it either, its common for a certain amount of metal to be up in that area clogging up that hole.

Oh yeah. Good thinking! That didnt even cross my mind. But makes perfect sense. Thanks alot for the excellent tips.
