I am currently running 225/35/17 on my evo wheels. The car is lowered and has evo brembos on it. I am looking for rim recommendations. Not so much on how light they are but wheel/offset to clear my brembo brakes. The tires are Falken azenis. They were good with my 20g at the track but now I need something stickier. I want to be able to run in the street class and want the stickiest I can get. I do drive a hour to the track. I believe my evo rims are 17x7.

I am concerned with tire fitment if I go with a 17x8 rim. Then would 235/45 fit with a lowered car? I believe in the rear the tire would hit the upper arm. In the front I am more worried about brake clearance. I believe most rims with a 40 offset would clear without much issue. I know it depends on spoke style. The tires I am considering is Toyo r888. I am ok with getting hoosier dot and swap them at the track if I have to. For rims, I would like to stay under 800 for a set. Looking at Drag dr31, Avid wheels, XXR wheels. I know there mostly low end but want some ideas and thoughts.

I know there is many threads on rims and brembos but the info is pretty cluttered up without much results in the thread. There is a small amount of people that actually have brembos, lowered and need a sticky tire. Im hoping I can have pictures and models here.

I run an 18x8.5" rim off of a 2013 Shelby gt350. I cannot remember what my tire specs are offhand but I do know I maxed them out on the upper limits of stretch. I have a very modest poke. I have CTS-V brembos. Lowered modestly, only 0.5" but I have no upper clearance issues. I suppose it depends how low you are?

I for the life of me cannot find my rims for a reasonable price anymore. Someone on ebay wanted $650 for 1. I know American Muscle has knockoffs but I am worried that would throw my weight distribution, and I have heard mixed reviews of them surviving track days. You can always put Rotiform aerodiscs over your ugly rims if you go cheap :p

Consider a factory Evo X setup. No stretched tire set up and minimal poke. It is a 18x18.5 with a 38mm offset. I run the factory sized 245/40/18 and it clears my brembos with plenty of space.

I ended up going with TSW rims. They are 17x8. I just need to find a tire size. I am lowered 2 inches. I checked today, my current tire size is 225/45. Not sure how much tire I can fit.

You can run a set of fd wheels with spacers and they will clear brembo brakes. Also one of the rotas clear as well but I'm not sure which one.
What tire size are you running?

A tire shop said to run a 245/40/17. I am not sure those will fit on my car. I know a 225/45/17 will fit. I found this chart. Seems like either way I need to roll the rears.

Biggest issue with a 2ga is the knuckle. The 2gb knuckle has more clearance. On my Evo wheels I run a 235/45r17. The fd are 26x9.5x16

Are you running the evo wheels with any lowering of the car? Did you swap your rear knuckles to GB ones? I've actually never read that info before. Thanks for the input there.

My car is lowered on eibach pros. No I still have 2ga knuckles in the rear. Should be able to search and find pictures of the differences. 2ga is like a sweeping curve where the 2gb has more of a notch to it. But tons of 2gb guys fit way wider tires than guys with 2ga knuckles. The difference is in the rear. Fronts are the same year to year.
