Hi guys,

Was wondering if I could get some help figuring out what was done to the wiring harness in these pics. This is a 95 Talon AWD.

This first pair of pics is from the driver's side just above the fuel rail and intake manifold.

What are the 2 hacked off bundles of wires just above my hand?
Also with the wires I'm holding, what's been spliced together? The wires change color a couple times under the electrical tape. What are the two connectors for at the bottom of the pic that the spliced wires lead to?

This second pair of pics is from the passenger side, near the fuse box, just under the intake pipe going to the TB.

What are the hacked off blue wires for and should they be twisted together like that?
Also what is the open connector just below the blue wires for (with the red and black wires)?
Finally, what is the brown and white thing? I'm guessing it shouldn't be exposed like this?

Thanks in advance. Sorry I'm still new to the turbo version of these cars. I've never seen a stock, unmolested harness and this one is hacked up pretty bad...

On your driver side section, the two that are spliced on go to the cam sensor and AC compressor, and the cut off bits look like they could have been the originals, but that's a bit hard to tell for sure.

The blue wires could be anything without more reference.

The exposed item looks like the guts of a relay, but the plug in it suggests it's a solenoid, possibly the OEM boost control solenoid.

I would suggest trying to find a replacement harness.

Thanks. I've been debating if it's worth fixing or just getting a replacement. Doesn't someone on here make harnesses? I don't need anything crazy like the mil-spec ones.

Those two connectors are for the cam and crank sensors.
Take a pic to the complete la engine bay to see what you have overall.
Is this a 7 or 6 bolt block, any information will be good to know what is going on, or better say to know what the old OP did to it.

Thanks I'll get more pics.

Any idea why the wiring would be patched/spliced for the cam/crank sensors? Do the sensors have a different connector after 95-96 like on the 420a's?

AFAIK it's the stock engine in a 95 Talon AWD. Just the body was converted to an eclipse. The PO did an AC delete. I'm not sure if anything else was deleted, but it seems like the PO's overall approach to electrical was to hack off anything they were no longer using and crimp/twist/tape new connections. Also use speaker wire for around the engine bay for gauge sensors. SMH.

There were a bunch of non-functioning gauges in the car at the time of purchase (boost, coolant temp, A/F, oil pressure). So there's some hacked wiring from that as well. It looks like coolant temp sensor has hacked wiring that runs around the bay and into the cabin. Same with the oil pressure sensor. There's also an aftermarket radiator and single fan hacked and hardwired to where one of the original fan connector were (I think).

People usually hack the wiring when doing a 6 bolt engine swap., but if you have a 7 bolt then you don’t need any harness, just fix the one you have.

Looks like the OP cut the wires weren’t using to make the engine bay cleaner.
The 95,96 uses two connectors in the same locations (like yours) and the 97,99 uses two connectors as well but one is located where yours are ad the other is located on the other end of the head, right next to the thermostat housing.

I have some spare harnesses, send me a PM if interested, and I'll see what I can find for you in my collection.

EDIT **** Or maybe not. I just saw you're in Hawaii, shipping would be retarded high for you.
