Yes, we're all disappointed that there will be no Shootout for 2020. They tried to make it happen, but in the end it didn't pan out. However, @95GSXracer (Kevin Jewer) is still hosting his 2020 DSM/Evo Summer Event at Marion County Raceway on the weekend of August 15-16 in La Rue, Ohio, for those who are looking for another place to meet up and celebrate DSM culture.

I know the virus is a popular debate everywhere, taking pretty much every discussion out there off topic - let's avoid debating it here if we can please. Let social media carry on with all the arguments, rhetoric, misinformation, and partisan bickering. I'd like to try and keep this thread focused on the event.

Thanks @95GSXracer (Kevin) for putting in the effort to put on an event! (I know how busy he is)
I wish I could make it, but it is a 12 hour drive.
Gotta give you an A+ for effort. I hope all have fun and are safe and say high to Kevin for me! :thumb:

Agreed. I know Kevin is trying hard to cater to DSMers with his event.

Are they allowing spectators now or do you have to be apart of a crew?
Yes spectators and everyone is welcome! The health department shut down the bathrooms and showers tho. Portajons are onsite. There is a regular food stand and sometimes other food trucks show up but they aren't exactly reliable. I would highly recommend bringing lots of your own drinks just in case. The closest gas station or Dollar General is a good 15min away. Hope to see you all there!!

Thanks @Renea, I take it your represent Kevin/Marion County Raceway? Appreciate the update.

He's been burning the midnight oil lately so kudo's to him. I don't think I could keep up with him but dam glad he is the man he is!
Everyone should have a great time!

Thanks guys! I appreciate every single person that comes out. There is no pressure for this event to perform, if 10 DSMs and EVOs come out, we're gonna party. :D The other classes on Saturday night are going to be epic, as always. Nothing like some 4 second small tire racing to spice things up. Everyone is welcome to enter those classes as well, we'll do DSM/EVO qualifying earlier in the day/evening (28" tire, street class with a 20 mile cruise, FWD class, and Man Trans class as shown above). It's gonna be a good time. All non-racers are crew members. Social distancing is absolutely required, but it's our only restriction. This could be a seriously good time, I'm looking forward to it.

How do you keep all of this going and still get any sleep Kevin?
We ALL appreciate you and all you do, that's why you get talked about around here!!! ;)
Marty

Thanks Marty, I appreciate that. It's mostly a thankless job. :D I don't get much sleep during the season, but we get a break in Jan/Feb. The other businesses continue on, but the track is the big one.

Rowe Racing put up another 100 dollar bounty on the quickest DSM/EVO pass in Man Trans on Saturday night. I might put up another 100 bucks myself to see a DSM/EVO win that class. :D

Dam I'd like to be there. I even checked into air line tickets to get up there. They were about $500. OMG

I heard there is camping at the track, is that true? Also,is there a nitrous fill station on site or one close by? I"m going, just have to plan where to fill my baby bottle and sleep.

Yes camping is allowed. Keep in mind the showers are currently shutdown by the health department. :-\ I do not know about the nitrous.

I just asked around, Alex at Racecraft in Marion should be able to fill bottles on Saturday. We have one guy that can sometimes fill them in his trailer at the track, but that sounds like it's not an option for this weekend.

Man was Saturday a scorcher!!! we got fried somehow even being under my easy up, I dont know how that even is possible, big big kudos to Kevin for his hard work and endless days there, the place is really going to be on the map at the rate he is working on it. Also his wolf/dog and its randomness, the dog wouldn't even come to us, even for an easy piece of food, but that thing ran about the full 1/4 mile as soon as it saw Kevin get out of his tractor for just two seconds to switch equipment, that was the funniest thing that I randomly saw over the weekend. The track is really in the middle of a corn field, there are miles and miles of soybeans and corn surrounding that sucker, but that's how tracks should be right? Sponsors were mentioned plenty of times throughout the day, including Dsmtuners, which was kind of crazy to hear that out in the middle of miles or corn you hear "We want to thank Dsmtuners" it was kind of weird but familiar to hear at a shootout. I guess it rained about 3" Friday night and some went home soaked, we got there around 9:30 Saturday morning and Kevin was already out on the tractor so I didnt get to talk to him or even see him up close the entire time, he was working in that heat like an animal and when I say it was hot I mean it was HOT Saturday. Great to see nothing and no single person stop this event, its bigger than any one person. Mad that I didnt get a t-shirt they sold out instantly, they said I could order one and I might do that. To those that missed it, we could feel your energy there, heres to feeling your energy there in person next time!
