So I recently built a motor for a friend. When he came to get the engine I told him to double check the torque on everything on the front cover and retorque the Headstuds. We get to the shop we did a once over and I made a base tune for the new motor. We started the motor and oil was pouring out underneath the transmission .... POURING. We were obviously stumped..... I thought maybe rear main? Either way I told him to pull the trans, which we did in 20 minutes. The f***ing galley plug was missing !!! The block has been sitting for a long time and the machinist claimed he didn’t remove it. At some point the galley plug was removed and wasnt reinstalled. I’m aware of the huge oversight on my part but if I don’t remove them to clean the block it’s not something I usually check for. You live and you learn I guess. I know I’ll be checking for them now ...
