Its got a dent on the tip! Is that what happened in transit? Kinda sucks. You going to knock it out round again

it does have a dent :( It showed up like that but I don’t think it was from shipping. No big deal as I’ll knock it out eventually.
Its a shame if they sent it out like that but note to them about it as they might need to pack it a bit better

New hood is mounted but not installed as I still need to mount the Aerocatch hood pins/latches. Finally got the rear trunk installed. New trunk lid and polycarbonate window weight 26lbs vs. factory 73lbs, (47lbs delta weight ). Overall I think I saved about ~55 lbs between the new hood and rear trunk.

Progress has been steady but slow as I've had to make room for a bunch of new parts which means new shelves and better organization. I can officially announce that I procured @Atuca V2 AMB Aero kit! I'm fully aware of how long its going to take to mount, so I probably won't start that project till after the we buy a house and def. after our wedding in March, 2021. Philip is a great guy to work with and his generosity is 2nd to none! Thank you Philip!

So much and little has happened since my last post way back in August. My fiancé and I've purchased our first home, moved, hosted Thanksgiving and Christmas, AND attended Mitsubushi Owners Meet (MOM) in Orlando!

The short version of a very long story is that the racecar was up and running but now isn't and we'll get to that later. But for now the positives, it's got my old GS-T's Intercooler installed that my father and I designed back in 2009 (the nostalgia is real). So please don't hate as it carries a lot of sentimental value. It'll be good enough for the this year while the suspension is getting dialed in. Below are list of the new parts:

  • Aerocatch Latches
  • Custom Intercooler piping
  • Mishimoto Radiator and Slim line fans. (these come wired incorrection from Mshimoto FYI)
  • New power steering cooler bracket.
  • A/C Condensor Deleted
  • Bumper suppports
  • Re-hung the passenger side door as it was rubbing the fender
  • Re-Installed racing seat
  • Aligned steering wheel
  • Here's some pics.
I promise I'll try to post more often as updates keep coming.

Here's some pics of the PS cooler bracket and the #Mishimotor radiator. As I said in an earlier post, these came in wired incorrectly, @DSMtuners for the rescue as this was covered years ago and it helped me resolve the issue within a 1hr. A quick re-wire and a trip to #AdvanceAutoParts for new fuses and I was back in business. I should also mentioned that the upper right mounting post was welded ~1" off, I just took a piece of aluminum and made a quick brake with a couple bolts.

Overall a the radiator is a nice piece of work but I was disappointed with the wiring and stanchion location issue.

So after everything got installed and tested, I was able to take it out on it's maiden voyage to hang out with some other DSMers in Orlando. Oh and shout out to the people that took pics of my car and Adam LZ for the couple stapshots on his YouTube channel. He's got a super sick EVO VI TME Rally Car.

So after all that hard work and fun, what would a DSM story with out a palm to the forehead and an immense amount of frustration? Sorry for my poor language. :) Here's what I'm currently battling:

After doing a little more research, hope is not all lost. I can either weld it up and re-tap the bleeder screw on the opposite side or I can try and use an insert/helicoil. I've decided to go down the latter path as my welder isn't set up for Al welding and if this works, welding is still an option. Here's the part for those that find themselves in the same position in the future. Also, if you happen to have a spare drivers side caliper, feel free to PM me as I may need it in the future.

Of all the photos, don't ask me why I love this one:

I always am drawn to unfinished project photos like this, especially with some wide tires like that, don't know why. It just looks mean.

Thank you for the kind words, I didn’t think much about it at the time of the photo but your right, it does look pretty mean.

Ah gotcha, I'm planning on getting a carbon hatch but have started to get concerned about mounting a wing to it in the future. I need to research more on whether this is a legit concern or not.

Are you happy with the fitment of the carbon hatch? I've heard it shrinks over time.
