Got my car on the dyno the other day to get it dialed in and get some power numbers. Power was a bit lower than what I’d hoped to get out of the HX35 with my setup but it was a Mustang dyno and the HP/TQ crossover point isn’t at 5250 like it should be so I don’t know if something was off in the calibration or if that’s the uncorrected graph? This was done at 30 psi and on E85. Tried to turn it up past 30 but it just didn’t make any more power past that. Guess I’ll have some fun with it this year then send it off to justin for some upgrades. Can’t wait to see what it can do at the track.

Nice!! You're a on a 2.4 block, is that right? When is it spooling? I would assume it would spool crazy fast with a 2.4 and a twin scroll...

Yes I’m on a 2.4 with 274/278 cams. I haven’t logged any street pulls yet to be exact but it seems like it hits full boost right around 4K in 3rd gear. It pulls very strong and has great throttle response so I’m very happy with
how it drives in the street.

HX35 turbine is a little on the restrictive side for big power numbers on a 2.4L at high boost levels which is probably why you didn't see gains beyond 30psi depending what turbine housing you're using. There's a 10-blade HX35 turbine in circulation but it's aftermarket and I don't have enough people using it to call it a reliable option quite yet.

We ran a 7-blade HX35 compressor paired to a HX40 turbine in the .55 housing on one of the Rix Racing family machines that had a 2.4L on pump gas a few years ago with success.

The turbine housing choking out was exactly what we were thinking. I am running the 12cm non wastegated housing with the 2.5 outlet cut off and replaced with 3”. I forget the online diesel shop I ordered it from years ago but I was one that was posted in one of the old holset threads. Maybe I should just switch to a hx40 and t4 setup over the winter. Overall I’m still very happy with how the car feels and how it performs when I get it to the track will be the important thing.
 
Twin-scroll T3 seems to run out of juice around 550-600whp on a typical 2.0L; that number may be even-lower on a 2.4L with the additional exhaust energy. I'm not sure a larger housing would fix the problem entirely but it may help squeeze a little more flow out of your current setup...there may be a 16cm2 non-gated housing here if you wanted to try it out. I think Matt tried a 16cm2 housing from me on his twin-scroll HX35 at one point but said it gained nothing but lag; may not be the case for something with additional displacement.

Figure a given twin-scroll housing typically flows somewhere around 30% less than a single-scroll housing due to the space taken up by the divider in the volute...so a 12cm2 housing being around .90 a/r is matching the mass flow of a .63 single-scroll housing which is about how yours is reacting.

I honestly had no clue that a 16cm housing was available for a hx35 or I would probably have used that to start with. I wonder if that combined with the 10 blade turbine you mentioned would be the ticket to pushing this turbo to its maximum potential on my setup. I know I would be very interested in giving both of them a try though.

what are the turbo’s specs, top to bottom please.

The turbo is just your normal 7 blade hx35 with a 12cm2 housing that has been sitting on my shelf for about 8 years after it was rebuilt by justin. No porting, billet wheel or anything fancy. All my supporting mods are listed in my profile.
 
Question for the guys running the hx35 16cm twin scroll t3 it's paired with the rev9 cast manifold not suited for twin scroll turbos obviously at what rpm can I expect to see full boost planning to run around 2 bars car is 2.0 built head
