Alright. Rack is on it’s way to Brandon. I made sure to email him and let him know. I haven’t received a reply as it’s obviously the weekend, but I got my end fulfilled. Hopefully it gets there in time to be part of the group, but if not, I’ll eat that cost. Pretty excited for this now.

Definitely looking forward to these but not looking forward to removing my rack and pinion though LOL, having the transmission out should make this a lot easier. Hoping the turn around time with Brandon isn't too long.

Has anyone had luck contacting Cole for the electric power steering portion? I have not had any luck.

I got mine with a different end (for another steering wheel). He ask for the end part to change it and send me the right one.
I remove the part and send it to him, but after a couple emails to him asking for the part, he hasn’t answer, He did respond the first email but he told me next week will send it and 2 months later still nothing.

I email him a couple of times without a respond.

Just a quick little tidbit of info. Brandon messaged me back today after I sent him an email letting him know my rack was sent out. And he freaking rocks!!!! He said he is still waiting on some people to figure out if they want to do cores or not and that he still needs to make the fixtures to do the work and estimated about 1-2 months out. Just fyi.

2 months would still be fairly quick. Disassembly, machine work, reassembly, verification of each one will take a good amount of time.
I’ll probably want to hit you up sometime later too to find out more about what you did with that prius column. Saw something about adjustability with a potentiometer and that peaked my interest greatly as I was trying to figure out what to do for control.
Agreed that two months is nothing. The guys got a busy shop to run. He’s been fantastic about messages and he’s good people. I’m happy to see this all come together.

Same, although I'm thinking that this is also the perfect opportunity to steal the wheel and clockspring from the donor and get some real steering wheel radio controls.

EDIT: Oh my, the older Prius steering wheels are hideous. I'm never a fan of carbon fiber in an interior but this one might be okay. Just replace the Toyota badge with something less....Toyota.

Sorry for not replying sooner to this thread.

Mr Cole ran into an issue before christmas and it left him in a financial situation. He got hacked and people spent all his money but he think it was a customer of his from the IS200 group as he does alot of wiring projects. It took ages for the bank to side with him and he was having a hard time getting sorted again because he had all his money wiped out, he is trying to recover it now and get sorted again

For that reason he decided to stop projects for now till he is sorted once again so he may not reply to emails or take any customers on at this time till its all sorted or he is happy to start taking orders.

Brandon has given me no lead times because he first had to get everyone to pay before he bought all the cores he needed. As he only wants to setup once to save time and its more accurate to do them all in a row.
Im sure he will keep you updated but he will also update me and with photos so i can update here. So if your not already subcribed to this thread do so now to get notified of all updates!

I got my manual rack in today finally. We actually had some sun and dry weather for me to bring the csr out the garage and remove all the things in the way for the swap! 1 thing i did not do which i totally forgot was to take a video of the oem steering wheel movements vs quaife version. So i will jack the car up tomorrow and video the quaife and if anyone wants to do the same with the oem version please do so and it can be a good visual for folks.

As a description though the steering wheel is full lock and my steering wheel does not even make 1 full rotation! So its alot more angle vs steering movement.

I have tried it on the floor under load but remember i have huge wide tires so its not the easiest anyway but i was still able to move it, it was 1 handed also so im sure 2 hands would be much better.

Another thing i did which was Brandons idea was to take my pinion housing apart and maching off the PS pipe ports as they are no longer needed. Its mainly to make it look neater and smoother and gets rid of the bulk thats not required no more. Weight wise it shames off just under 1Lb off so there is a saving i guess even if it is a small one. I started by cutting off the bulk then put it on a lathe and turning it down till flush then welding the holes up. Lightly sanded the welds and then finished with turning it on the lathe again. I also painted the whole housing the same color as it was flaking off and bsre metal was showing so looks a whole lot better now in many aspects.

If you havent paid Brandon get that sh** done. Those of us who paid almost a year ago are ready for our racks. Prefer to get this before the end of 2020 but not looking good for that so far...

Hopefully NEXT spring? This spring doesnt seem to be happening....
He wants them done somewhat fast himself but whats happening around the world now is going to sloe things down for sure

If he has the parts, and has my core, its not a viral outbreak holding this up...
I hear you though. I just don't think its fair to anyone who is already paid that we are waiting on those who haven't.
If people haven't paid yet (15 months into the group buy) then sell their spots! I will buy another one.
I get what your saying. But this deal from the start was a batch or group so everything is being done in a group and cuts the price way down. If we did 1 at a time the price for each would shoot up and not be worth it. But in the future this might be the way forward and sent into brandon as and when they ready but setup times cost money.
He is also a shop with other clients also so has to finish off his current work or what ever he is working on to be able to have time to do this in 1 run. He has to make fixture tools for the CNC and dont know what else along the way he finds he needs since he is starting from a blank page, Once he gets it all sorted and 1 done he will get through them decently no doubt.

Paid him a while ago and had a rack sent to him from miller shortly after. I’m not in a hurry but my situation is different from others. I’m just glad that we are at the end of the tunnel for this project.

Thanks again to Bobby and Brandon for all the work they’ve done here.

I'm pretty shocked that not everyone has paid Brandon after about a year now, really muffs it up for everyone that had paid well in advance. I do see Brandon's point of view. It does make sense to do everything in 1 shot. I just think there should be a deadline time before people have to pay the retail price for his services. Personally I would rather have it sooner than later, preferably by May but definitely don't want to wait another year because some people couldn't do their part in a timely manner (again plenty of time).

So wait. So will our racks be welded and machined like yours?
No this is what i did after from an idea he had. From stsrt to finish this took about 1 hour to do

We should of had a time frame in place i agree, being the first time around and also the time frame from the parts being made i guess we assumed it left everyone plenty of time to sort this out but i guess it was not the case. Not many was left un paid and i believe all are now paid. People would forget since it took a while for the racks to get made and all finished up. Which we now know wont be an issue in the future since the details are done and design work is complete so it would be time in the work que then manufacturing times.

So with this new info we learnt it can be used in the future to make time frames and let the situation be known.

That's a relief. I guess I was expecting the worst like if some people went MIA from tuners for a while or didn't receive any update. Thank you again Bobby & Brandon!
Sorry for the rant.

Also @rabenne you had legit reasoning to voice your concern too. Heck even I got stressed out a bit LOL

I am just stupid excited about this... I wrote a 50 page design report on what is essentially the same product back when I was a junior in engineering school. I have been dreaming of having a manual ratio rack and adjustable steering assistance since 2015. When Bobby started this group buy, I immediately got WAY TOO EXCITED. I calmed down, so that I could at least appear to be patient while I wait for a dream to become reality..

I got anxious the other day, and started questioning things that are not in my control. The fact is, we are truly lucky that Bob and Brando are such cool guys. They could have made two of these for themselves and ignored us all!

Thanks again for doing this Bobby! I will go back to appearing patient now!

Im fully with you on the out of my control part man. I hated not being able to speed quaife up or do anything to help it along. Im not a control freak but i like some control but this i had zero control and was left on the step waiting. I couod not keep hounding them in emails as they would delay it longer and they are so busy sith other huge profit orders to us we are a small thing to them so i had to chillout and go along for the ride.

If quaife was not able to offer it at such a good price it wouod never of happened because the next company wanted 1k for a kit and i was never going to even bother looking into it after that quote.

I never want to do things like this in a 1 off if i can, i feel as if the group can use some new stuff to keep them alive and somewhat fresh (ish)

I do thank each and everyone of you for your time and support through this all.
