This is the car shortly after I bought it. First thing I did was fix all the dings and dents, sanded down all the sun beat clear, and locked it down with a quality urethane primer. This was a few years back when most of the body parts where available at the dealer. I went nuts and bought everything, belt moldings, quarter glass, roof drip moldings, windshield rubber, ect. All hoarded for the day I decide to spray it and reassemble with all mint new parts. It will be a special time when I finally do this. Something I planned way back.

Car was completely stock when I bought it. At this point I had switched out the plastic BOV for a 1g unit just to turn the boost up a touch on the T25. I did not leave it this way long.
20171217_141255.jpg
This is a V1 HTA68 I picked up a while back. Before i got this car.

20171217_152827.jpg
This is a mint almost brand new FP Green. Wasnt sure exactly which one I wanted to go with. Ended up trying a few different things.
20171224_012841.jpg
Picked up a Punishment Racing FMIC kit mainly for the piping and to get something in there fast and easy. I had plans on swapping to a better quality core in the near future.

Getting a 7cm evoIII 16g exhaust housing ready for use. Started off with the internal gate so porting the WG passage to help combat creep.
20180123_162738.jpg
20180123_162748.jpg
Picked up a set of mint Evo 8 Enkeis. I had wanted these for about 10 years.
20180127_193814.jpg
Going with and EvoIII Intake manifold
20180127_193816.jpg
20180127_194325.jpg
I cut off the mounting lugs for the coil pack bracket in addition to a few other things for a cleaner appearance.
20180127_210936.jpg
Wetsanding, almost ready to start the polish
20180128_164421.jpg
20180128_164430.jpg
Went with a 1g NA throttle body. Sent it to throttlebodies.com for a rebuild, taper and polish.
20180128_184242.jpg
Evo II IM next to stock unit. All finished up ready to install.
20180129_203250.jpg
At this point, the quick and simple setup was coming together really nice. Started off with the evoIII 16g. I was really happy with the way the IM turned out too. I had also added ECMlink and a set of FIC 1200cc HiZ injectors, in addition to all other supporting mods to run around 22 psi on pump gas.
20180129_204301.jpg
Evo8 MAF here. Swapped to a new RAD too. Those slim fans did not work out. They just cannot flow enough to do the job.
20180129_204327.jpg
20180201_153508.jpg
Adding a set of HKS 264s to the setup
20180203_145233.jpg
I really enjoyed the way the car performed at this stage in its build. I had it tuned pretty well around the way the WG would blow open and the spike in boost was a blast as it was accounted for and settled in really nice at 22psi later in the pull. Might sound crazy but I felt like I had lost some of the fun when i switched from the internal gate to an external gate. I missed that spike.

Added a Fuel Lab AFPR. Made a bracket to mount it to one of the threaded locations that I did decide to leave on the evoIII manifold.
20180210_170359.jpg
Still on the EVO8 MAF but added an OMNI 4bar to log boost.

Decided to give the HTA68 a spin.

Also put toghether with a JM FAB External gate Recirc O2 housing.
20180418_133940.jpg
Now with an Evo8 steering wheel. This wheel is a major improvement to the look and feel.

this is the shop vac attachment I made to suck up any shavings as they where created. You can see it in action above.

Made up a 4'' pre turbo setup. No more MAF. Decided to try out SD. Never did switch back.
20180525_192620.jpg
20180626_023335.jpg
Switched from an old school official Greddy Type S to a newer TIAL BOV. Also picked up a Mitsu labeled valved cover and refinished it. Added a cheap sealed catch can between the valve cover and the preturbo pipe too.
20180626_023411.jpg
20180626_023431.jpg
I switched back to the EVO III 16g. There was a couple reasons for this. Finally picked up the ARC2 to add to the COP setup. I had just added methanol injection and was looking to max out an EVOIII16g.
20180707_120758.jpg
Manifold blanket and turbo blanket from TPP. These really do a great job a lowering engine bay temps. It all adds up.

Thinking about giving this FP Green a shot so I made this arm to hold the WG flapper open. Nice because Im able to try it out on my external O2gate without permanently altering the FP 8cm housing.
20180812_210021.jpg
Having a proper shop makes all this stuff so much more enjoyable. Me and my buddy split the place. We added the lift last year. I remember what it was like to be out in the driveway.

do you have to upload pics one at a time or can you dump a whole file in one shot somehow?

You should be able to upload them all but I do have trouble sometimes and think it’s because the file is too large. You can upload one at a time. That way you’ll know which one is too large

20180812_210054.jpg
Ive had this Thermal Exhaust forever. Pulled it off the last GSX. I think I was doing the tank to rail setup here.
20180812_210200.jpg
Had just done the Brembo swap too.
20180815_201359.jpg
Sorry my photos do become a bit out of order from here out..................Heres a look at my weld job for the evo steering wheel. This was actually the splined hub that I dug out of a 2g steering wheel. It is buried under a ton of aluminum on the 2g wheel but the part that matters is steel and it CAN be dug out and used. Heres proof. Obviously the donor 2g wheel was junk to begin with and was destroyed to do this.

Scored an evo8 ETS 4'' core. I made some minor modifications to make it work well here.

I had to make a few minor modifications to get the tcase in with the brace but nothing too crazy.......just a couple relief notches. I also had to slightly reroute my exhaust.
20180917_191150.jpg
This is a look at one of my most used methanol injection locations, just after the intercooler. Ive tried a few different things as far as nozzle quantity, size, and location. I have found that one single properly sized nozzle in this location to give the best results. I would like to pick up a spare evoIII IM and weld a bung to each runner and try direct injection with 4 small nozzles at some point. I live in a pathetic place with no E85.........this is all I can reasonably do.

Picked up a carbon fiber hatch, local. Another deal I could not say no to. Something i would never typically do but I was ready to try something new. Also pulled my EDM tail lights out of the parts hoard. Ive had them forever. Ive got the side view mirrors and the side markers (fender mount) too. View attachment 571798

The car was now at about 75k. Very low millage but it needed the timing belt service routine. I took a peak in at the balance shaft belt, which was really what was worrying since I hadnt inspected it yet.......it was a scary sight.
20181006_173502.jpg
In the mean time, picked up an all original never opened 7 bolt split thrust block to build when I get to it or have an immediate need for.

cracked the code man- thanks

you can do 25 at a time and I found it best to highlight the 25 together in chunks and send em. doubt thats gonna help anyone now that im reading it.

anyway heres what Ive done with this car in the last year plus a few months. I will add in text here and there

Put the car on the lift to do the timing job. Decided to do the head gasket too.At some point while I was waiting for parts I added an evo8 oil filter housing and a Setrab oil cooler.

Nice build evl! That tcase probably costs an arm and a leg. Is that your crx? Pretty clean and they’ll be going up in value as long as it’s not a rust bucket.

Thanks man!

The CR-X is my buddys car, I actually replaced both rear quarters, fixed a huge list of other dings/dents and painted that car for him 12 years ago, we just figured that the other day. He did an awesome job taking care of it! Even today it still looks like it just got done. I dont know how he does it.

Something happened to your pics. I was able to see them yesterday but not today.

looks like they are above this text Im entering right now. lmk if you still cant see,

it was alot at once so maybe it just tweaked out real quick

Been sitting around with a fractured wrist. Going nuts unable to do anything in this cast. So I finally added some words to go along with the photos above.....all typed with one hand. Its still super half assed compared to some of the awesome build threads others have taken the time to put together but its better than it was

Thx!

That really should be the next thing but Im thinking I might do a different setup first. Ive enjoyed this current one for the last year so Im ready to move on. Gonna do TS.

Ive been putting off the state emissions test for almost 2 full years now. My registration expires on the 27th so Ive got that many days to get it set up to pass. Ive got everything I need to do it but its just such a lame thing to do to the car. Especially when Im as happy as I am with how its performing.

I will have to-

-undo EGR delete

-undo EVAP Delete

-Pull evo3 IM

- install Stock IM

-hook MDP sensor back to its channel which has been taken to log fuel pressure

-install FP solenoid/ EVAP solenoid/ whatever that 3rd solenoid is (forgot what its for ATM)

- install a cat back setup with a cat (which I had to weld up the other night so it will bolt to my 3'' downpipe just so things dont get too crazy as far as what I have to do exhaust-wise)

-hook the rear O2 sensor back up to its channel which has been taken for the wideband

-Install the stock MAF / swap back from SD (I dont think I technically have to do this, so I might not)

then just make the necessary changes in ecmlink...........I think thats everything.

None of this is fun or cool, and I am going to hate every second of it.

However, I have a pretty cool part on the way that I'm pretty pumped about, and am really looking forward to trying it out....... so ambition levels are way up. All the lame changes will be undone quickly after and I am also thrilled by the fact that this is the last time I will ever have to do this with this car.

I've just read through your short journal, and so far you've got my respect. But...

^Just reading that list made me cringe and gag. It really does suck how you did that much work to the car, and now you have to undo it for testing purposes, and then do it AGAIN assuming they give the thumbs up.

That one post leaves me with two words: MOVE SOUTH LOL I've never had to do emissions testing with my car, nor have my friends with theirs. If they pass from the factory, then no one cares. :D But seriously, glad to hear that you won't have these problems anymore.

Man that blows. I think classic plates exempts you from state inspection and/or just emissions testing. That might vary from state to state and you’re only a few years away. Make sure you drive it to get most of you monitors complete so you don’t waste your time.

Thanks! yes- so happy to be back in action. that was a rough time. Im not 100% yet but way better than I had hoped to be at this point honestly.

Thanks for checking it out!

I know the list looks like a lot and Im really whining about it but the truth is once I get setup and start going on it, I will have it all swapped in a few hours......I knew this day was coming so I was pretty careful about how I removed the stock IM and all the other crap to kinda set myself up- I left every vacuum line hooked up with all solenoids / TB and all vacuum lines as one unit, then everything that wasnt able to stay hooked up labeled well......if that makes sense.....should go well... At least I think it should go well...........stay tuned!

I dont like CT at all. I dont plan on staying here

yes! 25 years and Im free. I have a 1997 so 2022 will be when I get those and will be exempt for good. So I will do it one last time next week, which will get me 2 more years, then Im pretty much there.

Yes Im going to have to put some miles on it after all the changes so it can establish as well..........did I miss anything else?
