Hi all,

I recently bought a 1G Laser turbo! One of the headlights burnt out a couple weeks after I bought the car, so I figured I’d take the opportunity to upgrade to the Hella H4 conversions. There’s just one problem - the pins on the back of the new headlight don’t match the harness/plug on the car. Pictures of the old light and the new light are attached. Any idea what to do about this? I thought the Hella lights were plug and play. Is there an adapter I’m supposed to be using?

Thanks in advance for your help!

The 1g headlight harness is not H4 compatible. There is a few ways to do this, you can cut the stock plug in 3 pieces and connect it that way, cut the stock headlight plug off and solder an h4 plug on. My issue with that is when I activated the headlight pop-up function, it would pull the h4 connector of the light. What I eventually did was convert my lights to 9006 led bulbs. Doing this allowed my bulbs to have a locking feature.

I'm sorry it's not a real answer cuz I've never done this conversion nor have I had a 1g but to me its simply just high beam, low beam and a ground. I do all kinds of hid and led conversions on a bunch of newer vehicles at work. Do you have access to a multimeter? I could help you hardwire these lights in unless theres an adapter for this. Thank you for your time, Jason Penny

I did my 1GA H4 conversions with Hella's 008888101's.
I was running 55 watt halogens but recently converted to LED.

I was worried because 1g's use a common power with ground control for hi/lo beam selection.
Was worried that the LED would not like a polarity issue but it all worked fine.
Even enough room with the pop up lights the hella bulb, boot large LED bulb with fan & the module,
Its busy behind there, but it all fits.
I used zip ties and Velcro to retain harnesses and modules.

However modifications where definitely needed to get them to fit.
I had to use a carbide bit/deburring tool on the headlamp buckets.
The hella grey boots wouldn't allow the bulb housing to fit the bucket properly once installed onto the bulb.
So I opened up the hole that is present stock to accommodate the hella bulb seated in the bucket with the grey boot installed.

Then the wiring. I just cut the 4666 connector ends off.
Red/blue is power
Red/white is low beam (ground)
Red is high beam (ground)
You can unpin those terminals on the hella H4 adapters ( on the male spade end) and test before you commit and cut wires too.
just wire power red/ blue to common/ground and then observe low and high and attach those wires accordingly.
Oh BTW I tried the Hella 80 watt bulbs.... that didnt work out.
They melted my low beam terminal in about 20 minutes of use with ceramic connectors.
Use top image regular H4

Thanks everyone for the responses! I am not very ambitious when it comes to electrical work so I decided just to buy a couple of stock sealed beams and go from there.
