2G 16an fitting options and cooling setup issue

This setup was installed on a 1g which I guess has more room from the motor to the rad. Anyhow, Does anyone see a easy way around this issue? I got two push fit fittings from fragola which are shorter than normal fittings. I even tried a long route but its still two tight of a bend. Does anyone know of a way around this that doesn't involve having it re-welded? Maybe some super compact fittings? I tried a push fit straight fragola fitting with a normal 45 fitting. With this combo, the hose isnt exposed at all. That doesn't allow any movement. I think with some tighter compact fittings it will work.

I had the same problem when I first did mine. Didn't even measure it LOL . I had to cut it off make the rad end shorter and take it straight back to the welder.
Judging by the angle your best bet is probably gonna be to make the water neck or rad end shorter maybe even both. Summit has some pretty low profile pushlocks but even with those I think you'd need two straights and let the hose make the bend if it has enough length to.
 
You need to erhaps look into something like a forged fitting. These tend to be more compact. You can sometimes gain more space from these and bend starts due to the shortness of them. I only tend to resort to these myself if I 100% have to and a fast flow fitting cannot be worked or fitted.

Does 2x 90 not work and have the hose shaped in a U looking shape. Just an idea as it gives it flex movement which you MUST have, juzt dip the intake pipe down a bit for some space over the top

I understand the price and i was in the same boat a few times and bought them just in case but lucky mine was alot smaller fittings so not as expensive.

While you say a U wont work visually it should but your there and im only looking at a pic so my opinion is a guesstimate of course LOL even going under the intake pipe seems like it might work with 2x 90 fittings, have you got 2x fittings to check it out incase you can just about make it happen. Also dont be afraid to rework other things that get in the way, so if the intake pipe is an issue thats an easy fix so that can be re adjusted around the pipes end result
 
If nothing really will work then welding is the only option but before doing so get all the hose setup in its placement so you know the new reworked design will still work. You likely already know this of course but still worth it to mention it.
 
If I used two 90, i assume the braided hose would bind or fold on itself. The hose in the pic is just parker push lok 16an hose. I kind of like the idea of using a 1npt to 16an fitting and tapping it. My micrometer says the 16an hole is .80 inch or 21mm. I actually tried seeing if tapping would work because that could solve my issue. I know there are people out there that don't have access to a welder for aluminum. In my case, I dont trust my local welder. I had two bungs leak.

I just measured a extra tstat without a bung and measured 1.16in and my extra mishimoto rad measured 1.23. The bung is roughly 1.5 inches deep inside before it opens up if that makes sense.

Russell and FPS make these kinds of fittings to save space too, not sure how much more clearance they'd give you. I'm also not sure if they make them in NPT either I think they're mostly in ORB.
 
Buy the internal spring for the hose so it dont allow it to kink. I would not worry too much anyway as your already making it smaller then oem so are going to restrict flow with 16AN and whan you got water going through tbe pressure will push it open it up some more
 
Well typically the boss would be flat and the threads on the hose end screw into it, so you lose the extra length of the male an bung and the part of the swivel fitting that attaches to it. I can't give you any measurements as I don't have any of that type on hand.

Edit: I realize now that first picture is not a good example of the low pro type. Here's a pic of a more low pro design. I believe it's for a crimp type hose but as you can see they make em pretty small.

So the Male part that would screw into the rad or tstat, would need to be bigger than 1.16 and 1.23. Not sure if that exists. If it does what size would that be?
 
-16 has a female thread I.D of 1.22 inches -20 female thread I.D is 1.54.
I have no idea about NPT sizes but I'm sure finding a chart wouldn't be hard.

You might have a hard time tapping the rad side without adding any thickness to it. Not much meat there.
 
You pretty much need to cut that thermostat housing neck off and have it welded on at a straight shot angle to the radiator inlet, anything other than that is too far into rigging/hacking for me to suggest.
 
I wanted to update this thread with some issues and what I have done so far. I have tried the forged 45 with a tight radius push fit from fragola. The forged one was to big. I think two tight radius fittings would work. Ill try and get some pictures this week. However, I think I have more issues ahead of me. My 2g water pipe is leaking, probably from me trying to fit my holset. Long story short I would like to redo my cooling setup. My rad, fans, and plumbing. I want to use the afco racing rad that can tuck under the support. That will give me more clearance. I also want a more modular plumbing. I can get rid of the water pipe completely and use a 1g tstat. I can also use the jay racing water pump fitting. But my concern is since the factory water pipes have oil and turbo return, I would like to somehow retain that fairly easy regardless if I use them or not. I could use some T fittings at the water pump. But is there water block or something with NPT threads where I can add, remove, or cap for water? I would like do something like what Chris did in the link below. I am not using the heater core or fiav, so those lines are capped/JB weld. If anyone has pictures of there custom plumbing, I would like to see. As you can see in my pics, The cooling stuff is so close to the manifold. Its also a pain to work on anything in there. Open to ideas.
