This is probably a dumb question, but what is the part called that holds the front suspension in place and bolts up to the knuckle in a 1g? Does anyone know where i can find this part? :hmm:

What car is this for? You've put 1G in the title and have a 2G in your avatar. Please be specific with that and this part's location and we'll be more than happy to help.
oh ok sorry i think its a 1g idk could be a 2g but its a 1998 rs its right behind the trunk area i dont know how else to exp the location LOL

Read this: DSM Make & Model Guide

Then, run around in this until you find the part you're after: 2G NT CAPS
I'd start in either section 13) Fuel or section 15) Intake and Exhaust leading into Emission Control.

Honestly, it appears like a piece of vacuum tubing / hose. Pull that piece, go to the auto parts store, get more about the same size and length, put it on and go.

So i just went ahead and cut the part that had a hole than just put it back on. I think that would work for now but will replace it or is it fine? I am not able to push the tube all the way on but i think it wont come off i did check it to see if i feel air comeing out around it and it seems fine. I might just put a zip tie or something just to make sure it dont come off. Car seems to run alot batter now :)

Hey guys curious to know what the thing I have circled in my picture is? Not the breather, thing behind it. I have 2 1995 eagle talon tsi's both run awesome, one has it, one doesnt

The "thing" behind the breather vent tube is your CAS, Cam Angle Sensor.

The motor that has the CAS like in your picture is not a 95-96 head from the factory. Doesn't look like the 97-99 CAS either. Looks like a 1G CAS. The intake manifold in to a 2G & would imply this is a 1G motor. Is the motor in your picture a 6-bolt swap?

Not actually my picture, I'll grab one of mine in about 10 minutes, that's one from the internet that had the part I was asking about

Mines not a 6 bolt as far as I know

No matter. The 95-96 have the CAS under the cam gear & were the only 4G63 years like this. The 97-99 & 1G's has the CAS off the back end of the intake cam.

I can trade you a part that will still plug that hole in exchange for the part that you aren't using :p
You have a JDM Black top CAS on your car, it appears to me. If the car really isn't using it, there is a market for it. It is a "Hall Effect" CAS and is supposed to have a better resolution for the ECU than a Green top CAS which 1g cars usually use for timing and fuel injector control.

So why would it be on here if it's not being used? I just still dont quite understand

That plugs the hole where the back of the intake cam is at. It has an o-ring on it to seal the head/valve cover "HOLE" that it sticks into. The cam has 2 notches in it that the CAS engages to revolve at the same rate as the intake cam. The 2g cars use, as stated, a crankshaft position sensor that is under the timing cover. Some still use a CAS, but since I am not a 2g guy, I can't tell you which ones use what, but 2g's use a crank sensor instead or along with a cam sensor.
@Mello, can you give any more input on this????

So i wonder

how with this being unplugged is not affecting anything

The car is running on the crank sensor. The cam sensor is just keeping oil in the motor, plugging the head hole, that's why I was teasing you and saying I could trade you a part to do the same thing. It is just keeping oil from getting out is all, is what it appears. You said the cars both run so it has to have a crank sensor doing the work.

I mean if I find out I have no use for it it's not like Itll be doing any good for me haha

Well it is a sought after item. Don't give it away....I run Green top CAS's because I have never found a good deal on a black top CAS. There really isn't any performance difference so what I use is working but be aware of what you have and don't get conned into a "deal" like I was teasing about.
See this...........I could read the #'s on the CAS.......T1t49971

Yep, notice it is just a plug. That is what your Black Top CAS is doing right now, just holding oil in the motor. :)
Your cars are running on the crank angle sensor under the timing cover.
