Idle and revving issues. Blow-by symptoms still.

Let me start by noting everything I've done, because I know you will tell me to do these things first:
- Compression tested, I have great compression (up to 182 psi)
- PCV valve replaced
- TPS replaced
- Checked for vacuum leaks
- Checked tension in the throttle cable

So here's my issue:
- Idle surge (down to 700, back up to 1000)
- While driving, when I push the clutch in, the rpms go to 2000, fall down to 1200, then rise back up to a steady 1700. Putting the car in nuetral makes no difference. When the car is in motion it will idle there forever. But as soon as the car comes to a complete stop the rpms go back down to idle (still surging of course).
- And I am still experiencing blow by symptoms

I'm thinking the IAC? What do you think?

Sounds like a logical conclusion, I can't recall if you can adjust the TPS on the 420a, but that's be my only other guess besides a vacuum leak.
This problem just started this morning. I replaced the TPS a few months back.

Oddly enough this started immediately after I replaced the PCV valve. I don't see a correlation here but that is weird.

Block the PCV hose temporarily to see if it alleviates your idle issues.
If the last thing done causes a concern it should be your first suspect.

New doesn't always mean good.

If you think it might be the ISC im sure there is a way to test it for the 420a before you go out and buy a new one. I dont know how to test it though but I would look into it if you think its a good candidate for causing your issue.

I oredered and IAC valve and a MAP sensor since mine are stock. I also decided that I will put my stock PCV valve back on since it seemed just fine. The above should fix the idle and accelerating issues.

But I still don't know what I should do about my dipstick still popping out.

My dipstick pops out too. I've read you have a rebuilt engine. Mine doesnt have oil spit out from it from what I've been able to see. I've looked it up a little bit, some people say to clamp the top of the stem to hold it into place. I'm wondering if just from all the heat over the years my rubber on the stick is worn and also in conjunction the metal tube has permanently warped. Still not sure on that one.

Neither does mine. Gladly LOL.

Most likely. As far as I know my dipstick is stockLOL Maybe I can find a decent aftermarket one to buy and maybe I will try clamping it down. I just bought some header wrap so I think that will help with a good bit of my engine bay issues.

I decided against permanently doing anything to the dipstick to for now. I just let my guy rock out for the time being, doesnt effect my mpg or my oil consumption which I've been monitoring lately. Have a worn oil plug gasket I need to replace cause I forgot to get one and idk how many times the poor thing has been reused cause I don't know who owned my car previously. But the gasket should fix my oil problem. Pretty sure I don't burn much oil if any at all.

How many miles are on yours?

Looking at your picture, it appears you have the exact same dent in the lower center of the front bumper that I had. That must be a very common problem among the Eclipses.

I took that picture before I replaced the bumper and started painting. You can see it down there! LOL

Yeah LOL and the indent where the Mitsubishi logo goes haha. This car has seen better days but the engine is running well and the transmission is smooth as butter so I'm doing what I can to keep it alive. Has some cosmetic/comfort issues but it gets me from point a to point b so I couldn't be more grateful. Plus I'm learning so much about the dsm platform, I'll be ready for the 4g63 when that day comes.

@609DSM

I see that your headlights are looking a little yellow. You can wet sand with 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1500 then rattle can some clear on top to restore them. You'll be in about $20

Or if you want a longer lasting solution you can save a little extra and buy THESE

Yeah I saw how chris fix did his headlights and it looks pretty legit. Honestly was looking at headlights today but since I went to a used dealer for this car it has 4 different tires with all different wear on them. I need to get new tires ASAP! But with scrapping by cause it's so slow at my job and going to school ita hard for me to even do much to my car. Picked up some new spark plugs today, started raining bout to finish changing them out. Those headlights look pretty legit for 75 I really wanna snag a pair. I also have this damn p0455 code I cant figure out, pretty sure it's a line cause my gas cap doesnt look too old and it's an aftermarket so idk... so much to do, so little money right now :D

I can send you a perfectly fine gas cap if you want, I pulled it off because I thought it was causing a code but it wasn't.

That would be dope. See if that's the issue or not. I just haven't bothered getting one honestly. I replaced the purge valve but nothing changed and light still came on. Usually takes about 100+ miles of dd for it to come back. I really think it could be the gas cap? Idk, evap leaks suck

Agreed, I have p1494. Soon I will delete the whole Evap system, weight reduction and better performance.

I can send you the cap for $8 shipped. I take Paypal payment. Pm me with your info if you're interested.
