Help! Just finished the ofh port with extra crush washer and replace front balance shaft seal. Now I have this whining noise. Couple of theories.

Balance shaft tensioner could be too tight
Something rubbing on tbelt cover

I didn’t touch the timing belt. Just pulled the balance shaft tensioner and sprocket.

Thanks
Tony

Ive seen outter half of WP pulley installed backwards more than once......apparently its a very easy mistake to make.

My current GSX came to me this way and it took me awhile to actually spot it.

Yeah real easy when you’re not paying attention. Glad that was it.

That happened to me LOL, took me trying to put the belts on to realize that something wasnt right. I hate working in that small area to change a pulley.

I was indecisive about taking the mount off but I said f it and left it on. Probably would’ve taken the same amount of time either way. I consider myself a pro at taking that pulley off. :aha:

I left mine on too. I got got a long 10mm and just spun the pulley which either loosened or tightened the bolts. Then I got the belt snugged up and then tightened them down. They arent to spec but I couldnt get my torque wrench in there. I dont think its going anywhere though.

Yup. I like to torque down certain things to spec but there’s no way to get a torque wrench in there. Just tight with a lock washer and it’s not going anywhere. Think they’re 15 ftlbs IIRC. I got a set of ratcheting wrenches from advanced on clearance for $35 :sneaky: a while back. One of the best purchases I’ve made as far as tools go.
