So im in the process of repairing about 8 cam cap stripped threads in my cylinder head with heli-coils. Not sure how so many got stripped, last time these bolts were touched was 8+ years ago when I installed new cams. Is it possible for the bigger cams to put enough stress on the bolts to cause them to strip?

I guess my question is, should I just go ahead and heli-coil all the bolt holes to be safe or just repair the stripped ones?

Any input is much appreciated.

Gee, I would do them all. It's hard to say if all the threads may or may not be compromised.

I would just repair the damaged ones. Look into a machine shop doing the repairs so they can get everything located properly. The last thing you want is one of those holes a little off. It may be cheaper than you think.

This. Had a bunch of studs snap off in a set of Ford modular heads and a couple pull the threads, cost about 50 bux to have them all fixed, and they cleaned the heads for us too.
